We had 17 waleyes in the box and I traded out the Rattle tot's on one side for the Li'l Ernie Musky lures I bought. First walleye was about 4 pound on the perch color. Second walleye just a tad bigger on the same perch pattern. Last walleye was 31 inches long and engulfed the walleye pattern Li'l Ernie. Got some real stares from those MWC tournament boys at the dock. My second charter this afternoon was not as productive, as we struggled to get the clients 15, so Ernie never made another apperence. ![]() ![]() ![]() Edited by walleye express 7/19/2008 8:16 PM Attachments ---------------- ![]() ![]()

Great job Dan! You may have figured out that single most important question a guide has to ask of his clients before boarding the boat! "Quality or Quantity?" As we get older and become stewards of the resource we realize that quality with a conserative approach to Catch and Release is more important in this day and age and "limits" become a thing of the past! Good Luck Tyee

![]() Member Posts: 2680 Location: Essexville, MI./Saginaw Bay. | Thanks Tyee. As you may or may not have noticed, the 4 guys I had were Omish. So everything I was using and doing, and what might have been (Lure Shock) when I pulled out the Li'l Ernies was tempered by their own inexperience. It also cut down on the Ol'Captains sea dog talk a bit during the trip. But they were great people that learned quick. One of them did mention though that one of the lures looked like and was as big as the perch we had in the cooler and that maybe we should just use him instead. The whole thing was kinda sureal in a way. I knew the diving depth of the Li'l Ernies said 20 feet on the package, but they gave no line out/versus depth down formula. I wondered about the 80 back I had the Rattle tots running before I switched over because I was in 19 FOW, but I left them set where they were. But with it being so crowded out there yesterday I got shoved over towards Nayonquin Point and soon found myself in 16 FOW. And the two furthest lines out on the board were visably nosing bottom or clipping weed tops every now and then, as the rubber bands would stretch way out then pop back in place. I finally got to point the boat East again and off the shelf, and was about to adjust the lengths when the first fish hit, then the second in the same position after I slid them all down. When the big one hit on the very end line closest too the board, I thought we were snagged on the bottom or had a huge Fresh water Turd (sheephead) or catfish on. My next worry when I seen what and how big it was, was that I had grinded off all the barbs on these lures so as not to harm any little ones that might take a wack at them. But he had 2/3 of the lure swallowed. Edited by walleye express 7/20/2008 8:06 AM
