Location: Rhinelander
The winds forecast for today didn't disappoint, blowing out of the West/Northwest 15 MPH. As the winds picked up, the water temperatures dropped from yesterday's highs as much as 6 degrees, moving the fish out of areas most of the Pros have been catching walleyes since prefish.
Joshua Vanderweide, fishing an area he and his dad had to themselves for the entire event adjusted and put three fish in the Frabill for 15.75 pounds to take the lead for good 4.63 pounds ahead of seasoned Pro Tom Keenan. Tom recognized early this morning that the drop in temperature had moved his fish, adjusted and headed for the shoals to put his best weight of the event into the Frabill at 23.38, despite the fact his basket held only four fish when weighed in.
Pete Harsh, veteran Minnesota pro, took home Angler of the Year Honors with a solid year long performance and an 8th place finish at Escanaba.
