| I recently burnt out my main control board on my minn kota power drive. I was being kinda dumb when i removed the old corroded breakers i never replaced them with new ones..
Ive seen all sorts of products manufactured. Im guessing they are marketing a simple product i can buy. can i put inline fuses on my battery cables? or do they make an affordable way to surge protect my bow mount? its a 24 volt system.
Just looking for any suggestions. thanks! |

| I put a single circuit breaker just behind where I plug in my 24 volt trolling motor. Of course, if it does trip, which it did one time, I have to remove cover to get to the breaker to reset the switch. I think my trolling motor calls for 60 amp breaker. However, the marine dealership only had 50 amp breaker at that time. After talking it over, we decided that would work fine for mine. It does work, as it shut off one day after running the trolling motor continous for some time. I believe it cost a little over $13 with tax.
I would stay away from inline fuses and go with a circuit breaker.
Someone at a marine dealership should be able to show and tell you how to connect one.
Hope that helps.

Location: Lincoln Park, Mi | Here's Minn Kotas breaker. I'm sure you can mount either on the plug or battery end.

| Do not mount any fuse or circuit breaker at the plug. It should always be mounted at the source of power, in this case, the battery. The circuit breaker is not there to protect your equipment, it is there to protect your wiring. If you install your breaker at the plug, you could have a short between the battery and the breaker, burn up your wiring, and perhaps your boat! |
