Location: Rhinelander | The 2008 PWT Can-Am was just plain cool. There's no other way to put it, the community, businesses, and Media in Dryden turned out to ROCK the arena tonight as Team Canada and Dan Dolinski took the Win over team USA.
Able only to use live bait, the Pros and Co Anglers weighed in over 140 limits representing 1,173.35 pounds, and ALL of those on artificials. Limits were the rule, and big fish were caught, though spotty, up to over 10 pounds. Rigging and jigging Gulp seemed to be the rule of the day.
It would be a shame to see the 2008 Can-Am be a single event in the History of Professional Walleye Angling. Someone needs to pick up that torch in the future and make this happen again...it had to be a tremendous PR event for Dryden, and most certainly was good for the Sport of Competitive Walleye Angling.
And, it was fun. For everyone, it seems, not just the winning team.
Thanks to Hank and Cindy Smoke for putting up with us and some of USA's Team Lund at Indian Point Camp, and thanks to the Wabigoon for giving up a few muskies to us as we visited for the Can-AM.
