Well Dale, its seems you are into action on road and water... Glad to hear you both escaped unscathed. It is amazing the damage that 150# of carcass can do.
Take care,
Jim O

dale and i were very lucky. that deer came running right into the path of dales ford. i was driving and had no time to brake, and it was a very hard hit going 60 miles an hour. it was forced up and brought the radiator and everything behind it to the fire wall and folded the hood like an accordian. after hitting something so hard you would of thought the air bags would of went off, guess that ford isnt a safe investment. the deer continued on her flight and went up and over the truck and boat and landed twenty feet in the ditch . i thank the fishgod for looking out for us and that my best friend and i are here to fish another day

Glad to hear that you guys are ok. That can sure wake you up in a hurry. Hey Dale, if you're getting a new truck, consider a Freightliner. I hit 3 deer last year without a scratch. Just think of all the extra room on there for sponsor logos.

Thank God you guys are ok....Something interesting though...my son has a 2002 Ford Pickup---going down the xway last year a guy in front of him lost a utility trailer and my son hit it head on at 70MPH....NO AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT! Wonder if Ford has a problem? By the way my son was OK after the accident

I am guessing that the airbag deployment is bas on a bumper strike. I something comes over the top, it may impact sheet metal, but not the bumper. Just a guess, I have seen this situation before and wondered the same thing.
Take care,

the bumper was pushed up a little and had a large dent in it so i think there should of been deployment of air bag. i will see if i can get dale to post a photo of the truck.

Funny thing about those airbags, work when you don't want them to, and don't when you do want them to work. Guy I know hit a moose a couple weeks back with his Chevy and totalled the truck but the airbags didn't go off either. Seems on a Chevy there are 5 sensors, 3 in the bumper and 2 in the firewall, and none of 'em were touched. Thankfully the guy is alright, sheet metal can be easily replaced.
