This past weekend I attended the 2009 NPAA Conference which was held in Milwaukee and what an event it was.

During the event we heard from Tournament Directors about their circuits and what has changed. Manufactures attended and spoke of their new products and how you can work on getting on their Pro Staffs. During the conference there were many sessions that allowed you to build skills such as how to market yourself, coming up with a plan for fishing tournaments and the future of fishing. Tommy Skarlis shared plans from when he was up and coming. Thanks Tommy you really made it interesting and fun. Thanks Ryan Chuckle for showing me new ways to market myself. The other great treat was hearing Al Linder talk about the future of fishing. What a passion he has for fishing. Thanks Al.

I also want to thank Gary Parsons for his discussion on the AIM circuit. I really felt his passion on tournament fishing and what needs to happen so there is a future for tournament fishing.

Besides these great speakers there where some great discounts to be had, such as a fifty percent discount on a Navionics product.

The NPAA conference cost was fifty bucks. I received much more in information and getting to meet many people.

If you are not a NPAA member I would recommend becoming a member. Go to www.NPAA.net where you can learn more about the NPAA and how to become a member. I also recommend attending 2010 NPAA Conference as I am sure it will be just as good as this years.

I to attended the NPAA conference in Milwaukee. The event was filled with valuable information from start to finish not only about tournament angling but things I can use for life in general. I do not think of myself as a professional angler. I am not on any pro-staff teams, have zero sponsors and ride in the passenger seat. Some day I would like to be and will be in the other seat. What I learned at the conference will help me achieve this goal. I say this for all the other individuals out there like myself. If you find that you are in my position I would tell you to join the NPAA not only for yourself but for the future of our fishing resources. Yes, Al Lindner did speak and what a passionate and energetic speaker he is as were all of speakers. Thanks to all who were there.

I had a great time. All NPAA members who missed that meeting missed a good one.

I second that! I've never been to a meeting before but will definitely be joining. I don't know another place where you can receive that much knowledge in one weekend and all the offers to the members throughout the year, definitely worth it! Nice job NPAA, I'll be back!
