Member Posts: 885 | Here it is. After many months of testing, they are ready to go. Here's the details: Size: 2 1/2 inches long x 3/4 inch wide x 1/2 inch deep. Uses: 2 aaa Batteries that I've tested to last over 100 hours. No wiring anywhere, fully inclosed in a HD plastic case with snap on cover so batteries won't fall out. Long lasting, super bright LED that can be seen from 1/4 mile away if you loose your board. I've bounced and banged them around and have not broken one yet. Use a rubberband to attach to your boards. Front pick has 1 unit with batteries inserted to see in action. Back center pick has case back removed and is shinning on wall.... It's that bright!. Purple Skeeter

Member Posts: 885 | Good Questions... They weigh about 1 & 1/2 onces. The plastic case is very tough, but light. The LED and Batteries are Waterproof. Water does not affect the performance. I used the same components that I have used in my built-in planer boards for 7 years without fail. This is the most common question I get. The unit, like my built-in setup will get wet, but water does not affect the preformance of the unit. After a season of use, I recommend a light spray of DW40 to protect the battery terminals while in storage. Here's the built-in version. I have about 60 of these that my friends have used for the past 7 years with no problems. They swear by them. Most use them year round during the day, so they get a lot of use Attachments ---------------- ![]() ![]() ![]()

I didn't mean it that way, what I was trying to point out is if an invention has hit the market and has been produced beyond the prototypes before a patent application is filed that particular product cannot be protected. You have up to one year to file for a patent if you obtain a provisional application. I learned this the hard way in 1995.

I Googled the patent number and found a lot of interesting reading there. I really got to hand it to you guys that have the smarts to go through all that technical paperwork. Now the Big question, when do they go to market, so I can buy them?

Member Posts: 859 Location: Appleton wi | All the patent does give you the manufacturing rights for awhile it doesnt and cant stop someone from making one for personal use and its kinda like the tattle flag on planer boards where everyones buys the parts and rig there own up instead of buying a 10.00 upgrade kit. The most expensive part of getting the patent is for someone checking archives. Also the wording is crucial on how you list your patent but like many things poeple find ways to infringe on patents. Is the return going to worth it?

Member Posts: 2300 Location: Berlin | Been there done that. VERY expensive and the cost is in the verbage and approval. Then if someone does infringe, you better hope it is not one of the big boys and you better have a ton-o-cash for the battle. Items that are in a larger market would definitely be worth it but not in this case. As for the idea, AWESOME!! If I owned a planer board or new how to use one I would buy one from you for sure. You da man!

Member Posts: 885 | I knew Chuck Norris would hijack this thread sooner or later.... My intent was never to sell these things... well ok, for a minute I dreamed of fishing full time off the profits from my lights, but then reality set in and like everything else I come up with... I give it away for free to help out a fellow Walleye fisherman... As soon as I get a chance to get the instructions and part numbers together, I'll post them here. I came up with an easy, no wiring method that is rock solid and takes about 5 minutes each. Parts come from Radio Shack and cost about 4 bucks, but you'll have to order them, they are not in stock. Like my built-in lights, I'd be glad to make them if you don't have the time and they are for your personal use.... Dominic Edited by Purple Skeeter 1/14/2009 4:22 PM
