Member Posts: 7 | Long time reader, first time poster. I currently own a 2006 1700GC with a 90 E-tec, but am positive I am going to remove the console and relocate the gauges and electric switches to the rear and run a tiller. The not so positive part is in regards to powering the boat. I could stick with the 90 E-Tec, get the tiller kit, call it a day, but run the risk of insurance problems if something were to happen since the boat would technically be over powered now. If I did re-power with a 60hp, I am worried the boat, loaded, might take 1/2 mile to get on plane. Its a lot of boat for 60hp is my feeling. So here is my main question for other Tuffy owners. Those of you who own, have owned, or have experience with a 1700GT, how is the performance with a 60hp on this boat?

Member Posts: 7 | iceman, I see your point. I thought of that initially, but I didn't want to go new since I would be taking a step back on the amount I would owe on a loan. How much, I suppose I could find out. Also considered used, but you just don't see many of these on the market. trim-it-up, that is pretty good speed. So I could be looking at 30 to 34 with a 60hp depending on load?? I would take that. I only get 38 with the 90 E-Tec, but I suppose the console adds weight and wind resistance. ***Any dealer reps have input on a new current or non-current package price for a 1700GT w/60 or a 1760GT w/75 ?? Boat can be bare bones, I have electronics. Thanks for the input!
