I am still getting entries dated the 2nd so numbers have not been assigned at this time. Normally I wait twelve days before starting to be sure all entries dated the 2nd have arrived.

Jim,

Do you have a feel for how many new teams there are this year yet?

I assume you got 300 to fill it?

Just an FYI- Otter Street only had 250 ish post marked on the 2nd. I would guess that any new team to the Merc. that post marked on the 2nd has a better chance than ever to get in.

Does Otter Street normally fill up on the first post mark day?

In recent years Otter Street was filling in a few days. But the last year or two I think they may have had a few openings.

I just called one of the directors of otter street two days ago and they had about 280 boats signed up, So I had to hurry and get my entry in, I am sure they will fill up. That is such a well run tournament every year, My hats off to them. Great Job!

Have not received ours yet.

Does anyone actually believe that a letter that is "truly" post marked on the 2nd takes up to 12 days to arrive in Appleton. Other than a rare lost letter there is no way!

What about an entry sent from Canada? I've had letters that took more than a week to get here from there, and vice versa.

Doesn't really matter, as there were not 300 entries postmarked on the 2nd. or 3rd, or 4th, or..........

CT, it happens all the time. I get orders from within the state that take well over a week to get here. It happens at all times of the year with no rhyme or reason.

I asked Jim Coon about the 12 days and he told me that he had gotten a properly postmarked letter in the past that took 12 days. It seems prudent that he is cautious.
Take care,

More than a few years back... I got a letter delivered three years and seven months (plus some days) after the postmark.... Came to me "postage due" there had been one or two increases since the original mailing date.... That was weird... if it was postmarked and it was the right amount then... oh well... Anyway.... the letter also had a stamped notation... "found in presumed empty equipment"... Thsat was all my mailman could tell me pay up the 5 cents or so and he knew nothing...

12 days... Sounds pretty darn fast to me!

A letter mailed in Chicago... 35 miles from my home takes up to five days, routinely.

This was Jim Coon's reply yesterday on the other site:

Sunshine, I would guess that means that all new teams that were post marked on the 2nd are in?

That would be my guess too. I'm sure Jim will see this and respond.

I will also guess that they will fill it eventually.
