Member Posts: 1406 | Some may differ on my perspective here but there is a distinct difference around the anus that is really only evident durring the time around the spawning period. I have never really looked that close personally at other times of the year. There are a ton of 20-24" females in the system as well as males and there is no way to tell in immature fish say under 17" 5-7 year olds, until you put the knife to 'em. It's easier to tell a female from a male now and I would not second guess anyone telling you that. just ask them if they are putting them back or how many they have in their freezer and congratulate them! Member Posts: 1406 | hahaha....I knew that would get a rise out of someone! Put 'em to the knife or let 'em go! The system I fish doesn't warrant me "looking" that close! The real question here is.....Do YOU feel guilty after cleaning them and finding all those eggs? Good Luck Tyee Edited by tyee 4/13/2009 4:56 PM | ||
