Member Posts: 132 | What are the best #5 deep cup Colorado blades made that spin at the lowest trolling speeds? Also, which #5 blade style out there maintains its spinning action at the slowest speed of all? I want to troll .5 mph and finesse the walleyes in shallow water with split shots in front of crawlers without the fear of blades not spinning and thick blades weighting the harnesses excessively; so they don't bottom out in shallows.

The closest thing to a blade spinning at that speed would be a Macs Smile blade, but that doesn't sound like what you're looking for. I would try a hatchet blade next. I can usually get them to spin at aroun 0.8 mph.

Sometimes a big number 5 blade just moving back and forth without a total rotation does the trick too. Thump, thump, thump
Do not be worried about the weight of the blade either. In shallow water forget about adding the split shot and use the blade as your added weight.

Member Posts: 132 | Thanks for the education in blade and harness usage. I'll give the hatchets a try and I’ll purchase the Macs Smile Blades.

Member Posts: 885 | If you can find any of the larger Twister bodies that were sold by Mister Twister, they will spin at that speed. They were dis-continued a couple of years ago. I would also try the spin-n-glows, they come in larger sizes that would match a #5 blade. Here's a pick of the bodies. Member Posts: 132 | Thanks Purple Skeeter. Also, I was curious if both the Macs Smile blades and the Spin in Glows work equally well on inland lakes and rivers versus the Great Lakes? Not just for the shallow water capability; because they look very stealthy finesse like for lighter presentations, but for the larger walleyes and the forge base they attack on the Great Lakes?
