got an HDS-8 on the dash and was wondering about running 83 or 200 on the transducer... easy to switch with the keys on the front by the way...
read on another board that under 20 ft, run it in shallow mode... so I have it set on shallow mode... should I have it on 83 or 200... any other settings I should have on there? already cranked up surface clutter and interference...
Don't get out as much as i want so if I can dial it in quick would be a big time saver...

thanks...

200 KHz for shallow water. I'd say 60 feet or less. And 83KHz when you are running deep water with downriggers. The cone should be wider, and you should be able to see those down riggers easily at 83 KHz

Run split screen with both transducers for a while and see which you like better for your application.
