Location: Appleton WI | We have the ram 2000 rod holders but need to get them up higher off the boat. Does anyone know if ram makes an extension for them like a lot of companies do? I can't find them on their website. Or does anyone know if a different companies will work with the ram mounts? Thanks! |

| Scotty's should work with the Ram Mounts. Maybe Folbe's, too. Might be the other way around, however. Maybe the Ram's work in Scotty's and Folbe' mounts. You won't get the locking feature with the Folbe's. |

| Just be careful, because I don't know if the locking part works with the Scotty/Ram combination. I know it doesn't with the Folbe/Scotty. I'd hate to see you loose a rig. |

Location: Greenville, Wi. | I have Scotty's and Rams on my boat, they do not inerchange with each other. You may have to change all your base plates to Scotty's if you go with Scotty extensions. |

| Sorry, I thought they would work. Maybe the Scotty's fit in the Folbe's?
I don't know if Ram makes an extender. |

| Fish On makes an extension that will work. Cost is about $20 for a set of 2 at Fleet Farm. |

Location: Appleton WI | I tried the fish on extensions but they don't lock and are very loose fitting. I ended up moving 2 of the rod holders up in front of the windshield and that seems to help with lines crossing.

| Yes, separating the front rods to the front will help.
When it's really bad, I've put the outside rod in the rear most holder, and let it out farther than normal. This allows it to run behind the middle board, and crossing lines is less of a problem. But you got to remember you have it that way! I onle do this when it's really rough out, and the winds are swirling. Otherwise, I just keep the boards tucked in closer. The extensions definately help, and I run them on the front all the time. |

| I agree that the extensions are loose. I fixed the problem by drilling a small hole in the mount and one in the extention where they fit into each other and put a small 1/4" screw in. They are nice and tight and still easy to move. |

| I made my own extensions for the RAMs.
I used 1" diameter aluminum (Fleet Farm, $6 for three feet)
I used a router table to trim the Rams plastic down for a very tight fit inside of the aluminum. A little epoxy and a couple of stn screws and you're good to go.

| Thanks, they work great.
I cut the aluminum at 12", so the overall length of the rod holder increased 9". |
