Location: Rhinelander | Conditions are forecast to be almost perfect tomorrow, with winds at about 10 mph out of the North West, cloudy skies with a slight chance of showers, and a high of 60 degrees. The bite should be on, and the limits plentiful from Big Leech Lake for the weigh in beginning at 3 PM Central at City Park just out of downtown Walker. Weather reports claim steady improvement warming into the mid 70's by the final cut to ten on Saturday. A slot limit is in effect on Leech, protecting fish from 18 to 26 inches. Five fish can be livewelled from 14 to 18 inches, but only two can be over 26 inches and culling is allowed. The order in which the fish come and the decision as to which to weigh can be crucial. Watch for WalleyeFIRST coverage to begin tomorrow at about 7:30 with our signature interviews displayed in H264 crystal clarity, morning image galleries, and a description of the conditions as the Pros and Cos head out. Weigh in will begin at 3 PM, watch our Live Leaderboard for accurate, immediate updates as the weights come in. WalleyeFIRST will field two reporters this week beginning tomorrow at the weigh in, so more of everything you have come to expect from OFM will be available! One of the Pros driving a Toyota Tundra or Sequoia will take home a Toyota Trucks Walleye Angler Rewards check for up to $1300.00, watch for the reports on the race for the Toyota Trucks contingency money each day. Member Posts: 1991 | It should be an interesting weigh, there are allot of 22 to 24 inch fish in that lake. Last Sat Leaugue event, Between me and my co we tossed 30 fish in that range, my biggest was 28", we tossed a 25 1/2, 1/2 to small tried the stretching machine but no go, I calculated my 5 best by measuring and converted to weight would have weighed 30- 35#, then we tossed 15 or around that 12 to 15" range. Also that lake when the wind blows is incredibly rough, thur/fri wind blew 25mph with gusts 35 mph or so. Edited by moreyes 6/10/2009 5:33 AM | ||

Location: Rhinelander | The forecast clouds are absent this morning, but not one single Pro complained about the conditions after prefishing in upper 30 degree temps and rain. The bite has been stellar; many of the Pros told us catching 25 fish is no problem, but catching the RIGHT fish can be tricky. Lund Boats Pro Ron Seelhoff said the over 26" fish haven't been easy, but he's caught a few. He feels the 'unders' won't be the determining factor...it's those who can catch one or two overs every day who will make the cut. The bite has been varied with some jigging, some rigging, and some cranking in play, so no one single technique seems to be dominant. Jigging deep, shallow, and in between with the Lindy X-Change system was mentioned, as was pulling spinners on the breaklines, a technique that helped win the FLW League event last Saturday. The Weigh In at City Park begins at 3 PM Central, join us on our Live leaderboard for updates as the Pros weigh in. WalleyeFIRST Tournament Coverage is brought to you by Lund Boats! Member Posts: 1040 Location: Stevens Point, WI | Chevy Pro Tom Keenan came to the scales with 19.94lbs. to put him solidly in the lead by over four pounds. Mr. Keenan said he really couldn't have had a better day on the water with two fish hitting the 29 inch mark and his three slot fish were just under the 18 inch mark. Keenan said he had never complained so much about catching so many 24 inch fish but had an absolute blast catching fish; even though he had to let many of them go. Sitting in second is veteran pro Dennis Jeffrey of Garrison, ND with 15.63lbs. Dennis said he was extremely grateful for being able to get his two big fish. Third place is local pro Brian Brosdahl with 15.25lbs. Fourth place is Rick Olson with 14.81lbs and Lund pro Ted Takasaki is sitting in fifth place with 14.50lbs. The Angler of the Year race is extremely tight with Ted Takasaki leading Pat Byle by only 2 points and only 36 points separating the top five. The weather for tomorrow looks to remain stable with light winds out of the NW at 7mph in the am and by afternoon switching to ENE at 6mph.
