Member Posts: 273 | I am looking for a computer program to help me manage & store my waypoints and data from my Lowrances. My main purpose would be to be able to download from units via SD card and store on computer for retrieval when needed. I need to get them organized and get some of the clutter off my screen. Would also like to be able to view them on the computer, overlayed on the corresponding lake map (I think NavPlanner does this?). The program would also need to be very user friendly as I am technologically challenged. I would appreciate any opinions or suggestions. Thanks.

Here is the link to check out the program: http://www.fugawi.com/web/products/navionics_hotmaps_explorer.htm

Member Posts: 2393 Location: Waukesha Wisconsin | I believe that you are on the right track and NavPlanner is the tool to use for managing waypoints. More user friendly that Map Create by Lowrance. Hot Maps Explorer is very nice and for 20 bucks it is well worth the price to see the lake maps. But I believe that NavPlanner is better to manipulare waypoints. Iceman I would have agreed with you 5 years ago. But the odds of ALL of my backups going down at once are slim to none. Save waypoints regularly on 3 different formats and you should be fine. If you are a tournament fisherman or travel to different lakes a lot, start keeping your gps coordinates on separate files as soon as possible. It will save you hours of work later when your files get too big to down load.

My buddie just uses a seperate card fo each place he fishes. He loads up the waypoints to the unit and then re saves the new ones (w/ old ones back to chip when he is done). Each lake hasa seperate chip.
