Cold, wind, and even a little snow plus an extremely tough bite made for a long, cold, and frustrating day for the MWS Championship. Only seven fish were brought to the scales.
Current Team of the year Steve Meyer and Jason Van Lanen won the 2009 MWS championship with one fish weighing 5.06# winning them $4,500 plus their 2010 MWS entry fee is paid by Lindahl LTD. In addition because they were fishing out of a Ranger they received $500 from Lindahl LTD for a total of a $6,000.
Second place went to the team of G W Kadow and David Skwor with two fish weighing 4.28# for $2,500. Third place went to the team of Jason Miller and Bill Van Ornum with two fish weighing 2.76# wining them $2,100. Fourth place went to the team of Brett Leitl and Kelsey Hoehnen with one fish weighing 2.34# for $1,400. Fifth place went to the team of Scott Jankowski and Richard Skow with one fish weighing 2.02# for $1,100. The remaining twenty teams all received a check for $553 for a total payout of over $22,000 plus merchandise. Following the tournament the anglers and guest enjoyed the MWS championship banquet and awards ceremony.
