| On Sunday Teams from Iowa, Wisconsin, Indiana and Illinois Hooked up at Spring Valley for the IWT second Tournament of the 2010 season. With the rains last week the river went up 3 feet but the clarity only went down a little. By Sunday am the river had dropped back down to about 16 feet with the water clarity 8/10 inchs. Surface temps are holding around 47 degrees. Once again the teams caught a lot of fish but the key was catching the the kicker fish to supplemamnt the 14 inchers. Three different presentations paid off. The trollers with leadcore, three ways with cranks and floater jigs along with the jig/minnow. Most all the limits came from South of Hennepin in 14/16 feet of water. The winners of the tournament was Jim Melton from Wyoming, and Rick Funcannon from Lacon with a six fish limit weighing 12.97 pounds earning them $2,150.00. They also had big Sauger of the tournament with a 3.21 pound worth an additional $421.00, Since they were the first Lund in the standing they received the Hennepin Lund Grassroots Loyalty bonus of $500.00. Placing second from Sparland Rick Parrot and partner Mike Tatera St. Charles with a six fish limit weighing 12.96 pounds and a check for $1,250.00. Third place honors went to the team of Gary Merkel and Bruce Merkel from Spring Valley 8.96 pounds cashing a check for $850.00. cliff and Leslie Banks form Spring Valleye was the winners of the 100.00 Gift Certificate from Hennepin Marine. Woodstock Fishing line also contributed 2 200 yard spools of 18 pound leadcore line to the team with the 2nd heaviest fish which was Jim Klien and Ryan Vecchia. The Illinois Walleye Trail will have one more tournament this year on December 6, 2009. This will be an Open Team tournament with no membership, no points just fishing and having fun. Barto Landing.
