Member Posts: 1195 Location: Orland Park, IL | So, I figured out with fireline that would be a tough task, however, if using mono or fluoro, would the rapala not be useful for vertical jig presentations? Wondering if the shock of rippin up will render to much stress. With the rapala know I can see how you would have 100% 90 degree presentation. | ||

I generally like my jigs to hang horizantal to the bottom. Rapala know would not be good for that. It's also pretty tough to beat the Palomar with cold hands in the spring...fast, easy, strong. | |||

Member Posts: 1195 Location: Orland Park, IL | Yeah, I hear ya with the palomar. I was ice fishing last weekend and grabbed a rig from a buddy. His ice jig was tied using the rapala knot and a ball bearing swivel 18 inches up (like for a crankbait). No problem with the horizontal hang. Wondering whether this would reduce spin (yep) but also be strong enough for the hook set and retrieving snags. I agree though, cant be easy to tie multiple times. | ||

New User Posts: 1 | I have always just used the improved clinch knot if you make it tight you can have the jig sit any way you want...plus it unties easily for bait changes. | ||

Location: Rhinelander | If you are vertical jigging through the ice, you need to get a couple Lindy Darters. The fish really eat those things. | ||
