Me and the brother went 7 for about 15 I'm guessing. The brother lost the biggest of the day when he didn't inform me he had a fish on and it floundered at the surface just that extra second while I got the net and it got off. I lost many that I'd get half way up and they would pull the gulps right off the jig, believe it or not. Hot bit was 3/8 White/Pink Knuckle Ball with 3 inch Gulp Sniner. First let me tell some events that took place this morning at the ramp. Got to Lee street at 8:00am sharp. Almost 1/3 more people then yesterday. About 30 trucks and trailers backed up from the ramp itself waiting to launch and or pay the launch fee. The lot was full by the time we got in at 8:20am and had to park up near the crapper on the grass. Got close to the ramp walking from the truck on sheets of ice in the lot and seen a guy do a flip and crack his head on the ramp. Then a guy in an S-10 pickup puts his trucks parking brake on and gets out to help his buddy launch the boat. The brake cable on his truck breaks and launches the truck and trailer, which crashes into the boat behind it waiting for it's operator to show up. Both guys in the S-10 get soaked but manage to jump in and stop the truck from sinking past the doors. The days fishing was very poor. We never landed a walleye all day, nor did we even see a walleye landed for 3 1/2 hours. Complete opposite of yesterday. We did catch numerous sheep's, cats and whites. We did start to see some fish landed after about 12:00pm above the 675 bridge. But they were being caught by guys slinging and dragging very small jigs with small live minnows. What I mean by slinging and dragging is they would give the jig a little toss upriver, let it sink to the bottom and give it little flips it as it was dragged back to the boat. Even then I'm guessing we only seen maybe 6 or 8 fish caught from 12:00 to 3:00pm. As much as I love this kind of fishing, I dislike the circus atmosphere I saw today. I hope the river breaks loose past the Z bridge soon and takes some pressure off that small area

Location: Rhinelander | Dan, We are still iced in tight over here in NC WI, and gamefish angling on the ice closed yesterday in most of the state. The crowds which were very much like you describe at the ramp and on the water will thin now, and the crappies and gills will be cooperative!

As soon as that ice opens up it's game-on for those fish that wait till the last moment to head up river and the ones that stay out and spawn in the bay.
