only 18 boats this year.. due to a conflict with the FLW 50 or so top touring pro's did not fish this little but popular event. Many intending to enter the event skipped town in fear of humiliation as Baggo turned absolutly wicked.
18 boats showed up at 6 am to fish till noon saying ," it cant be that tough out there". when the dust settled 6 fish were caught out of 18 heavy hitters . 4 lbs won with 2 fish. big fish was 2.7 lbs. the 100 million dollar purse was paid out to 4 boats. the hot turky and gravy in the nesco was incredible and crowd controle was an issue although there were no criminal activity reported. wow! what a gut check! i need more practice and am only a humbled walleye fisherman in an infintile stage of development. many anglers risking the massive entri fee for a chance to quit there jobs and turn pro with the massive purse were seen sobbing and makeing excuses on there cell phones and in person when wives showed up looking for a windfall. no one went away hungry and within ten min of the final weigh in anglers were already talking about tournys past and the future. then the talk turned to the great ones fishing the FLW and a statue of Bret Wilkens was built from beer cans and old ash treys no longer needed in the pub. it was lit by a spot light and stands 18 feet tall smack dab in the middle of the road. it will be under round the clock servailance due to massive scrap value of aluminium and is pricles. Bret himself after stopping at several establishments as he traveled with his trophy found his way around the lake,,, with one glance he stopped, took his big cardboard check and baught the thing on the spot with his tournament winnings. we expect this massive influx of investment as a tab at the bar to last for days. all in all.. A good day for all!
