While most places on the Great lakes are complaining about a forage shortage, our immediate problem here on the Bay seems to be the direct opposite problem. Competing with this over abundance was a real problem last year on the Bay. With even our ice fishing showing first signs of this forage problem, and plenty of extra time on my hands because of it, I've put my inventive brain to work on this problem. My weighted Clicker Rigs were the first stage and now my newest invention and what I call Walleye Bells. Of course Cow Bells are nothing new to fishing. They are one of the oldest forms of fish attracting (mainly Lake Trout) gear ever made. They imitate a school of baitfish with all their flash and noise, and usually have the business end of the rig tracking along behind. I simply borrowed the idea and added some weight to the Bells, so cannon balls or any other weighted devices to get the Bells down to depth is not necessary. I can run virtually every invention I've made behind these Walleye Bells. My spoon harnesses, plain crawler harnesses, plain spoons and something else I've come up with. Reading on another fishing web site about using Streamer Flies for walleyes on a few Wisconsin Rivers, I decided too contact and order some of these flies from the poster on that web site who was making and selling these streamer flies. The whole rig would of course closely immitate a school of Emerald Shiners, which we also have in Great supply on the bay. Of course I had to modify the design a little, so I could run a crawler in conjunction with the fly. And I believe what I came up with will get the attention of our finicky walleyes and just maybe catch a few. The pictures pretty much show how I put them together. If you have any specific questions about the Bells, just ask. Attachments ---------------- ![]() ![]()

Are the weights the spacers between the blades and the beads one the left side? Yes. Those are the same Brass, Pen-Tac component Dynamic weights I used on my clicker rigs, except they are Silver, 24 karate Gold and Copper plated.

So I knew I'd need at least 2 weights built into the Bells to achieve any depth. I used the samller TH #3's in front of the flies. Edited by walleye express 1/13/2011 8:54 AM
