10:00 AM to 11 AM After seminar we will talk with the youth one-on-one

Come learn fishing basics with Angler Educator/Guide Captain Greg Karch and Rick Zackowski. We will teach youth and their parents all they need to know to start fishing or help them improve on their techniques so they will catch even more fish. Topics include:
• safety while fishing
• different types of gear and how to use it
• bait and how to present it
• knots
• fish identification
• where fish live and the best time to catch them.
Come see what was in Captain Greg's tackle box when he was a youth.

Captain Greg Karch

Dropped in at the event for a brief time before work on Sat. Then I went Sun. for the seminars by John Kolinski and Tommy Skarlis. They both had terrific presentations and for the many of you not there, you missed out. Sorry to say I didn't get there in time for the earlier talks with Gofron, Greg Karch and Rick Z. The turnout wasn't what I expected and was probably due in part by a lack of exhibitors. Without better attention and participation these events might go away. I think we could all be more supportive.

Sorry for not attending and being more supportive, but it's hard to attend these seminars anymore especially after fishing a lot and doing occasional tournaments from time to time. I'm not trying to disrespect anyone but the majority of the seminars are rehearsed repeats from other years. Truly the lion share of knowledge that any one will gain, unless they're a newbie at a seminar, is out in the boat with a guide or an amateur with a professional at tournament time.

I thought Rick and Greg did a great job keeping the kids attention and teaching them a lot. I also appreciated Tommy Skarlis and John Kollinski(sp?) taking time after their seminars to answer a lot of questions. I guess I am not too proud to say I have a lot to learn. I did wish there were more vendors at the show.

First of all, I would like to thank Rick and Greg for their efforts with the kids clinics.
Next, I would like to thank Doc for having me to the Breaker this year.

I am going to say it. Dude, if you don't think you could have learned something from Skarlis or Kolinski you are flat out lying to yourself. Not to mention the rest of the weekends line-up. If you add it up, there were a lot of titles and wins in that building last weekend.

Big thanks go out to NPAA members Rick Zackowski and Greg Karch! Two individuals that have been busting their humps for years now to help introduce kids to the sport of fishing. Also - thanks to Joel "Doc" Kunz for putting together Ice Breakers. A lot of hard work it takes to create a venue that is free to the public and has so much to offer outdoors folks of all walks!

Dear LurePresentation - I am saddened that without even hearing the seminars speakers (or really even paying attention to the line-ups or even this thread) that you would make such a general statement. I wanted to, but couldn't make Friday or Saturday. But look at the talent! Stroschein, Worrall, Ehricke, Pyle, Kemos, Huskey, Przekurat, Chase Parsons, Gofron, Kolinski - Just one tip - from any one of these anglers - could take an average fishing year and turn it into a banner year. Who knows - hearing the right thing from the right speaker - could have even positively changed someones fishing or life - forever. And questions were allowed, fielded and answered throughout the entire event.

And not to be forgotten - yet of equal importance: The building was full of vendors, guides and other tournament anglers - that all of them in their own right - had something to teach us all - with new tricks, products and services - and most of all outdoors knowledge.

Shine On!
