This is my first year owning a boat, and I'm going to put her to rest for the winter in the next couple of weeks. A buddy of mine has an unheated pole shed with some extra room that he said I could store the boat in for the winter, but he says there's a quite a few mice around. Is this something I should be concerned about, and if so, is there anything I can do to keep them from nesting in and/or chewing on my boat over the winter?

Believe it or not but dry sheets like bounce in all the openings will solve the problem. PLEASE do not use mothballs they are toxic I for one know that when I was working in a boat under the dash when I started to get sick, smell was minimal but I got to the point I had to go to the hospital with respitory problem. Now its out everyone knows whats wrong with me lmao

I would quit making fun of your friend's fishing style so he does not put the mice in your boat in the first place.

At a farm supply or elevator see if they have a product called "Havoc", strong stuff, don't use it if pets are around. It is big pellets, put a few in a coffee can lid or something similar at each wheel area and at the jack stand. Thsi stuff works, you will find dead mice, not far from the stuff. Won't help if they are parachuting in from the rafters, but if they are climbing in, they will stop and take a bite. I also use the bounce sheets. Read in an agriculture article that the Irish Spring works to keep deer away from young apple trees, so there must be something to that also. Spotless clean the carpet and any food specks. Good Luck
