My buddy Walleye Dreaming met me with his rig in the driveway this morning at 8:15am. We launched at Smith Park and headed out. As I imagined there were some 3 foot rollers from yesterdays blow still coming off Huron hanging around, and enough NE wind to keep them in the 2 foot range all the time we were out there today. And in fact they started to build again when we called her quits at 2:30pm. We took one nice 22 incher's early in 8 FOW, but decided to head out to Nicks old spot 8 miles out and spend the day trolling with the waves in comfort back towards the mouth.

Stopped in 13FOW and started our troll back with the waves. 1/4 tots 65 back. I hit a double almost immediately, both on the Green Pirate. Then things went dead. I related the story to Jimmy about the year when I was going 3.5mph and never knew it till somebody from Lindys Marina fallowed me out. I was using the fish finder wheel versus the GPS SOG. Jimmy asked me what time of year it was and I said right around this time, mid summer when the waters get 74 degrees and above. So I/we decide what the hell it can't hurt. So we kick up the speed between 2.6 and 2.9, sometimes bouncing on 3.1 and "bang" it starts.

Bad/Good part is, fish hitting and being dragged in at those speeds all feel like 8 pounders. And unfortunately, we had a few really nice ones get off on the way in. So then we started slowing the boat down when we'd get one on. Oh.....and Jimmy only fishes with 2 boards and long-lines the other behind the boat all the time on Erie. But that didn't work out to well in the swells and the speed we were trolling either. And if you look at one of the pictures, you'll see what happens when you troll with the boards to close to each other. That walleye took both cranks. Anyway we both got a limit to take home and had a few throw backs. Green Pirate took 7 of the walleyes today Bobby.
