| caught a 32 incher at LOTW this week. measured it, took some pictures and put it back. after releasing it, i kicked myself that i didn't weigh it. was late at night after a long day, chaotic in the boat, etc. (had a double trolling, my buddy got a 27). anyway, kind of set my mountable minimum at 30+/10lb+. didn't have a digital scale just a spring loaded scale. still forgot to weight it. I measured the girth at 14.5. never really paid attention to the girth of a walleye, just the length and weight. it was definitely a healthy fish but the more i look around online i'm wondering if thats a nice girth. does that girth sound about right? wasn't a skinny fish by any means but wasn't a spring fatty either. second guessing maybe i measured the girth wrong...it was late after a long day. i did weigh a 27 incher earlier in the week at just under 8lb's which was proportionally similiar. debating getting a replica made.
it was a great week. the two of us in my boat caught a 32, 29.5, 29, 29, 29, at least 10 27's, too many 25s to count and many under that. anyway, thanks for your opinions. |

Location: Berlin | Nice fish! Calculator puts it at 10.09lbs. For me personally weight does not mean anything, length does. I don't care if I caught that fish in spring or late summer, it is the same fish. That being said, I am not a guy that mounts fish anyways. Probably the only fish I would mount would have been my first ever walleye and my kids first walleye. Or if I caught a fish that had a spectacular story attached to it.
Sounds like a great trip and just so you know it is possible to post pics on this site...:) |
