Did my thing preparing for the upcoming rifle hunt up in Price County. Have a couple decent spots to hunt in the Chequamagon National Forest and my number 2 spot is very hot with sign. There is a bit of pressure this year as have harvested a good buck 2 years in a row. The barkeep at Musky Jacks told me that the 3rd is the charmer and should be a Boone and Crocket Buck. YEAH RIGHT! Otherwise, stopped for breakfast this morning at the Northern Aire Bar & Grill and the proprietor, Dave Harvey, proudly pointed out the fine Moose Rack (yeah from a Moose!) which he had good fortune to harvest in Canada near the Manitoba Ontario border. It was taken with a 30 06 rifle - 175 yards distant. Took 2 shots, the first was a killer. But after the Moose dropped, it got up and this prompted the second shot which also was good enough. The rack measured a wide 44 inches, but Dave was quick to add his largest ever Moose rack was 55 1/2 taken some years ago. The Norther Aire is located a mile north on Road 144, just west of Musky Jacks (20 miles west of Woodruff, Wi) on Hwy 70. I tried to talk Dave into serving free beer to anyone mentioning this WalleyeFirst post. He couldn't be convinced... Member Posts: 376 Location: Menominee MI, In Da UP Eh? | I was out on yer other place, the one Democrat called a mosquito and tick infested something or other....;-) I had my boys Jeff (8)and Jason(3) along for the ride, and to help put out a couple o gallon pail of apples. We tossed out the apples, and my oldest had some real interesting theories why deer like apples. We then went back to the cabin to watch for deer, and take some pictures. My oldest became bored the earliest and my youngin soon followed. I assumed it would be easier to wait out deer with a brass band than with both of these two monkeys.;-) So we adjourned to the truck and took the long way home. A few miles down the road from Ricks place we saw these ladies in a group, and one lone deer way off to the right. A Buck. As I slowed the truck they all looked right at us. After stopping the buck took to the tall grass and woods, but I did get a picture of the nubber as he trotted off. I also got a picture of the ladies social club. There is lots of deer sign at Ricks place, lot's of fresh, um, droppings and some new tracks around the cabin in the sand. Looked like does. I didn't see any rubs or scrapes, but then I didn't look. All in all it wasa good afternoon with the boys and all had fun, and I am sure the deer have satisfied their sweet tooth by now.... Attachments ---------------- ![]() ![]()

Of course, you will center the buck in the picture, Ralph. And I hope you fill your freezer with swampbuck this year!
