I'll be joining a friend and his sons for a weekend in late May. I'm not experienced except for a lot of trout fishing when I lived in the Rockies. I know this will be totally difand ferent. What king of poles should I bring (2), what's working-lures, live bait and how should I rig it (please be detailed I am really a rookie and don't know what Carolina rigged means and all that stuff. Also, besides bass, what other good eating fish should I try for? I'm the kind who like keepers to eat, not a catch and release or fish fightin for fun cause I'm a disabled Vet with severe back probs, so I'm kinda limited. Appreciate any advice.

While there are always fish in dam area, pool 5 (below dam 4) is known for wingdams and sloughs. You can probably catch a lot of fish casting crankbaits at wingdams and pitching jigs with half crawlers at wingdams. We're having an early year so the fish should be in mid summer patterns.
