Is this the water south of Little Bay? I have fished there before, but not this year. Is anyone from this board from around that area to answer some questions about it?

Yep, Cedar River is located between Menominee and Escanaba on Hwy 35. As you read this they are in the process of finishing up a brand new launch, and marina.

The fishing there can be phenomonal at times. There is a nice series of 20 something feet deep reefs surrounded by deep water that can attract and hold very large walleyes.

September and October are normally good times to fish, but all year long it will hold fish, but not as consistently.

One thing I noticed this past summer, when the wind would blow in from an easterly direction, the water turned cold and the fish disappeared. Under normal circumstances the water will warm, but I think there is a strong underwater current that, with the wind, has strange effects on that area.

Will learn more next year and will pass along my findings.

I fished that aea with Zach during a freaking gale a summer ago. He had been slapping the big fish around for a couple days, so my son Brian and I headed over to have some fun. The wind picked up almost as soon as we got out. We ended up coming in in real live 6'waves, with no fish. We made up for that trip this summer on Green Bay, though!

What is it with you and the big winds when you go fishing, Steve?!! Had that happen for the Web tourney on Bago, and as I recall, we had some pretty good blows for 3 of the days on LOTW this August! Sheeesh!
