Subject: Earth

With another round of solar flares being directed from the Sun, to our Earth, it leads me to wonder just how fragile our exsistence really is. And how unimportant our desires.

Since the start of these flares a few weeks ago, this has dominated my thoughts toward future thinking. So it is with interest to have read the introduction (on page 1) to a three-part series high-lighting the human population's demand on the natural system of our planet, December's issue, Mother Earth News.

The author, Lester R. Brown, an enviromental analyst, accounts emerging water shortages, changing weather patterns, shrinking cropland, and eroding soil as some of the problems we are facing. Adding the hungry population of China to the mix, one can forecast dire consequences.

In the introduction, Brown claims to put forward some real recommendations as to what has to happen to avert disaster. He has many interesting comments towards this idea.

This may be the start of new policy our leaders will be implemanting.

There is a e-mail list one can subscribe to in receiving up to date reports from the author. Its found at http://www.earth-policy.org . Check out his short video clips found on this page.

Rick.

This may come across kinda weird, but the human race is in fact a parasite on this planet. We are by nature users and takers and replace nothing of value for this planet to re-use. Everything else (except man) in this world, has a useful place and helps keep the natural balance on this planet no matter what species. The only other enemy and food chain competitor man has, is other men. And unless we degrade to cannibalism somwhere down the road, we will run out of resources. I'm thinking that is somewhere in the far, far future, and something you and I won't have to worry about. Wich is good. Because if you think I compete hard when fishing, you don't want to go up agains't me if I see you as a meal.

You liked that one hey Rick? Hey, off the subject, but could you do me a favor. I loaded some pictures on this sites Photo gallery, but am having a hard time with them not all (about half) being viewable. They're getting that little (Red X) in the uper left hand corner and not developing. Don't know if it's at my end, how I loaded them, or this sites server. Could ya take a look and see if they all materialize for you? I may need to delete my cookies and files again.

Thanks Rick and everyone else. The picture of me kissing the walleye was one of the one's that I can't get to materialize at my end. I'm going to do some deleting of the cookies and files again and see if that helps. Thanks again.

Hey, Jul's.

Ya, I told the wife if she kept me happy at home, I wouldn't have to go kiss marble eyed ladies. I solved my probelm with the gallery. Gave the whole P.C. a D&C, and as they said in poltergiest, "This house is clean". I also loaded some more pictures on it. Put the one of Sunshine from 2002 at Huron on there with his 12.6 pounder. That picture is something when it gets blown up after you select it.

Kissing walleyes....

That sir, is a dangerous undertaking. If you kiss the other end, it is much safer, I think!

Steve.

Yup, safer alright. But even at this stage in my carrier, I'd like to avoid the A$$ kisser monicur. Even if it is only a walleyes.

Good point, sir. I am primarily a muskie angler, and have discovered kissing that particular beast is REALLY bad for one's overall disposition. Walleyes, though not as well armed in the dental catagory, could still put the hurt on the old kisser.

Maybe we can start a tend:
Kiss your trophy walleye on the SPOT! (You know, the white spot on the tail. Not sure what to do in the case of a Sauger...)

If you dont use, um, if you dont kiss like the french, well you dont get hurt too bad. I give em a kiss on the forehead just before I tuck em back in to the lake, or livewell in the case of walleye or sauger.... never been hurt once. I love fish and fishing, but clearly not as much as some of you.....LOL!!!

Steve.

That white spot is just a little to close to that BROWN spot for my likeing. I've had to many walleyes loose their bowels in the boat to chance that.
