Member Posts: 240 Location: La Crescent, MN | Some finishes were confirmed by Charlie Moore of the PWT today, as a results the following corrections will be made to the WWR. Expect the update sometime within the next 24 hrs. 1. Dan Plautz SR and Dan Plautz Jr have some incorrect and swapped finishes. 2. Mark Gwizdala was incorrectly credited with some of Mike Gwizdala's finishes. This caused Mike to incorrectly appear as though he did not meet the minimum tournament criteria, therefore has no ranking at this time. His corrected finishes will place him into the top 10. Member Posts: 240 Location: La Crescent, MN | The final adjustment was made to the rankings today. The rankings you see now are in their final state. Quick explanation: A change was made to the model which will adjust finishes in each angler's "zone" for number of tournaments fished. What this means is after base rankings are applied, your finish is compared to the finishes around you. If your ranking has a higher confidence level, or more data points, you will rank slightly higher that someone with a similar score with fewer data points, since your rank is more likely to approach reality than a rank based on fewer events. Except in a small number of instances, this change can affect slight movement plus or minus 3%. Also, by design, fishing both the RCL and and the PWT gives you no adjustment advantage over fishing just one full circuit. We'd also like to address a couple of issues concerning the rankings. We ARE comparing circuits between circuits, and anglers with fewer tournaments vs anglers with many. It produces interesting debate and speculation. Keep in mind, the anglers with high rankings and minimum tournaments fished are "living on the edge". Their rankings will be volatile, and one bad tournament will have a huge affect on their overall place. Also keep in mind that this system is just another way of viewing tournament performance over time, a supplement to all the other things that go into making a pro a pro.

Member Posts: 1406 | Zach, Why does this change take someone like dean from 30th to 68th, and what do you mean by "ZONE"? Thanks Tyee

Member Posts: 240 Location: La Crescent, MN | He and Nascak (a good friend of mine by the way, I'm sure to get an earful) experienced the most extreme movement as a result of the change. The reason is that they are at the absolute ranking minimum (6 tournaments). They have good finishes, but have a very low confidence associated with their scores based on the amount of data used. He is also in a very tight area of the curve, where just a few points move you up or down quite a bit, and alot of the anglers around him have the tournament maximum. There were also some other angler additions which moved him down. The model is literally begging for one or 2 more data points to justify placing him up in with anglers with a similar score but having triple or quadruple the number of tournaments to base the rank on. By zone I mean other anglers with your same score plus/minus approx 5%.
