Webster describes the word "Gimmick" as an attention-getting feature for promoting a product. Or any clever gadget or ruse.

Now, rather it's the nature of us as fishermen to be attracted to these things, simple bordom, or misplaced lac in our fishing skills and ability, fact is I am a Gimmick Sucker. After about 40 minutes of watching these guys catch one fish after the other on those enfamous info-mercials, they set the hook on me again.

This time I ordered a set of 4 of those Cobra Light-N-Strike lures. The ones that are water activated, need no batteries and flash a strobe as they swim, driving fish to the brink of forage insanity. Ya, those. Actually, I'm looking at them right now and they don't look bad. I got the ones that dive to 16 FOW. They are about the size (But a little fatter) than a Rattle Tot, and appear to be solidly built. Decent colors and good VMC hooks. I'm planning on trolling them next summer in conjunction with my spoon slider rigs. If they do work, I know I'll have the only flashing strobe lure ace in the hole. If they don't, Ehh, call me a sucker and watch the swap board for a deal.

Shouldn't have told us!

Now everyone of us reading your post will rush to the phone and order our own. You'll have no one to swap board them to.

A whole school of suckers!

Express,
I too am a sucker for a gimmick. I have so many lures in the box that will never get wet again...

I AM proud of myself however! I didn't bay a Banjo Minnow. Not one!

On MuskieFIRST this morning, one of our friends from Europe directed me to a link that had a lure for sale for.....

$900 CANADIAN!!

It IS, however, a collectable.

I'm gonna buy me a Banjo Minnow.
