Member Posts: 389 | http://yellowpages.superpages.com/listings.jsp?SRC=msn&STYPE=S&C=&N... The above link will give you the information and phone number for the best baitshop in Devils Lake. They should be able to answer all your questions. If not, we'll just have to hope that Johnnie Candle sees your post here, and finds it in his heart to help you out. He knows that lake better than anyone here. I did a search on the ND DNR site, but they don't have the information your looking for. I agree with wolf...call the baitshop out there. Juls

I have fished Devils Lake for the past two years. The main source of food for those fish are fresh water shrimp by the millions. Be prepared for some very cold weather last year i was there in the end of march for seven days the hotest it got was -9 one day it also got to -33 witout the wind chill.but dont let the scare you it is a great time with alot of big fish every time.for the best report go to the google search and type in( eds bait shop nd ) . Have fun and good luck. Called the bait shop my self Monday and they said they had about 18" of ice with about 12" of snow but it was going to warm up thi coming up weekend. Tony

Member Posts: 3899 | Here's the link to Ed's. http://www.edsbaitshop.com/ One of these years, I'm going to get on that lake when it's froze. I've taken a couple side trips when out there in the fall hunting, and caught some nice eyes and very big pike. Edited by Shep 1/9/2004 10:15 AM

![]() Member Posts: 120 Location: Devils Lake, ND | Sorry, I wasn't quicker to respond. Right now the best bite seems to be on the east part of the lake for the perch. Hay Bale Bay and Black Tiger Bay are producing good numbers. Before the latest cold snap, the bit was fairly shallow, but moving deeper. I would start around 20 feet and move out from there. Small jigs or droppers with plain hoohs and spikes have been fairing well, but you never know, on any day anything could work better. Remember, these fish eat more shrimp than anyhting else, so think small. That was for perch, as for the eyes, find a nice point, set up and drill abunch of holes about an hour before dark. Drill from 8 feet out to 30 feet. Do all of your drilling first. Start deeper and as the fish move shollower, follow them. Rocky point is always a good producer, and as I sit here looking out of my window I can see about 15 permanant houses there and several guys getting ready for the evening. Give me a shout when you get closer and I will try to come up with some more info. I know the perch eyes guys are out there a ton and are great guys as well. They should be able to help.

The area south of Grahms Island has a ton of current and the ice is not very safe there. I got out on Rocky Point last night and caught 15 eyes. Problem was no keepers. I had one of the kids with me and she had a blast, so why move. I will monitor this thread if any one else has questions on DL.
