Member Posts: 72 Location: Plover, WI | I have been told this for years and have never really questioned it, just took it as so. Not that I can state it as fact because, as said, I never really looked into it futher.

Member Posts: 50 | Yep Denny the guys are right. I believe it's been for over 2 years now. By pure coincidence today I was at a shimano training hoop-de-doo meeting. One of the other guys brough this up. Our instructor told us that shimano bought them for their tecnology. They have and intend to basically let them do their own thing for the for-see-able future. Not trying to sound like a commerical here but today we got to see one of the new talora rods. These are a planner board/dipsy/down rigger/wire line/lead core series. The group is sitting at tables like you'd see in a normal cafeteria. 6 to 8 foot long made out of steel with a hard pressed wood top. He took this rod and with one hand hit in in the middle of the rod flat on the table as HARD and I do mean HARD as he could at least 10 times. All of us just sat there with grins on out faces. I have NEVER seen anything like that , never. I mean this guy honestly tried to break it. Then he let all of us look at the rod and there wasn't anything wrong with it. Then he gave the handle to me and put a glove on. He grab the tip with the glove and told me to put "some meat in it" and I did. He them called me a "female cat" and said come on Hutch. So I put everything in it trying to break that rod to HONESTLY make him look like a fool. I could not break that rod and that's the gods truth. 3 other guys tried it with the same results. 50 bucks says this is-was Loomis technology if ya get my drift. But I will say this, I have never seen a rod demonstration like this before, that's for sure. Sorry for the long one guys. Hutch

Member Posts: 226 Location: Oshkosh,WI | To go along with the new rods the new line counters are amazing! Total quality. As Hutch said the new rods are pretty much indestructable. Shimano also offers an over-the-counter replacement warranty that beats anybody's warranty in the industy. Break it, take it back the store ad get a new one. Easy as that! If you get the chance check out some of the products form Shimano. Troy

Shimano is a good company (is this Japanese owned?), but there will be changes with the G Loomis line some of us will have hard time with. Am trying to have a rod built with a G Loomis blank to my liking and am told this blank is no longer being made available. Also that the new series will contain some fiberglass and of course this will make them heavier. Since they have made the change, I will follow suit and make a change to the St Croix Legend Elite. It is a light rod blank and its "Made in Wisconsin"!
