New User Posts: 4 Location: west bend wi | I've been looking for updated fishing info on all the LBDN sites lately, and although I've found some good tips/techniques I've also found quite a bit of bickering, and so I thought I'd see what the Walleyefirst guys/gals know. I'm not asking for any specific spots or coordinates, just good honest info from the last time anyone ice fished this body of water. What types of structure seemed productive? Steep breaklines, mudflats, reefs, weeds, or any combintion thereof? I'm pretty familar with the area north of Gladstone, but I'm looking to expand my horizons to the south and escape some of the fishing pressure (if possible). I know this forum isn't specifically designated for this post, but I've noticed how helpful people are on this site and I'm a bit desperate as I leave on Feb.4th. Thanks!

Location: Rhinelander | There are several WalleyeFIRST guys out on the ice on BDN right now, so I expect we will see reports and pictures very soon. Marty called me the other day and reprted good ice, and fair fishing, with some nice 'eyes coming off reef tips and edges, and the shallower water toward evening. Watch the board this weekend for updates as the guys come in off the ice. Also, try our sister site, www.iefishingfirst.com.

Member Posts: 69 Location: Chilton | I just got back from up there. 3 of us fished 2 days and didn't catch a keeper. Some small ones and a few perch was it. I talked to Rick Larson around noon today, and they didn't have anything yet either since first light. We were all fishing the upper bay. Suprisingly light fishing pressure up there. With the way the fish are biting, it's easy to see why. We moved around the mud flats working between 28 and 35 fow. Usually more productive out there. Maybe this weather break will turn them on a bit. Quite a few people fishing south of gladstone, probably some of the reason there is less traffic on the inner bay. I've never fished out there, so somebody else will have to let us all know if the fish are all hiding out there.

Location: Rhinelander | Thanks for the report! I think my son decided to go to another part of the bay, will let you know when I hear from him. Sounds like tough fishing today. Sue and I are headed to Thunder tomorrow after pike, 'eyes, and crappies, hope to have better luck.

Yep, the fishing has slowed considerably for walleyes for me and those I spoke with fishing LBDN this past weekend. The theme was consistant in that everyone believe the brutally cold weather has effected the walleye's hunger. Pete Huibregtse and I fished first out front of the McDonalds in the outer bay, catching one small 'eye, and having one tip-up with - but all that happened was to pull in a scaled shiner minnow. Then we fished in the mud out front of the Vagabond - nothing. We finished Saturday by fishing the shallows near the Hawg Heaven shanty town. We caught another small 'eye and that's it for the day. Will report the day before the Hawg Heaven clients did catch some northern while we were present, and had a great story about a client catching a 46 inch Northern the night before, on a tip-up from the shanty town spread. They also reported a number of walleye caught along with this northern. Sunday had Pete and I out fishing in the mud out front of the Terrace. One tip-up with no results, and then we managed to salvage the trip with a 26 inch Northern. And I'm eating that sucker! Attachments ---------------- ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Location: Rhinelander | Keith decided last minute to head to Petenwell, he had heard the bite up there at LBDN was way off. They got three walleyes from 17" up to 19", and a couple nice crappies. He said that was for two solid days and nights on the ice in his Mobile Ice Attack unit, pictured here. Attachments ---------------- ![]() ![]()
