Member Posts: 44 Location: Bradford Pa | How do you guys store bucktail jig? I keep having troubles with tails curling up. As you can see in the pic the "Americana" as I call it was made a few days ago and looks nice. The orange one was made in the fall and looks like hell. I noticed too that with marlabou it seem once you use it and it drys back out, its all stuck togather and crappy looking. Anyone have any storage ideas to keep the tails from curling? And any idea to fix the curled on cause I got a whole box of them. Preferably an idea I could take right on the boat with me. Jason

I even like to mix them in with some scented plastics in the same bag. I label each bag with the weight. Works great and never had any problems.

Next time you put a kettle on use pliers to hold your jigs over the steam. It has a restorative effect on hair.

Member Posts: 50 | Jason, MJS kettle trick does work good. Another way is to use a mediumn heat iron. Give the buck a light little mist of water and then hit it with the iron. As far as the feather jigs, that's not as easy to prevent. About the best advise I can give ya there is to dry the maribou out with a towel or your pant leg when it's done. Then let it sit out and dry naturally. It won't be perfect but it will help some. After it's dry take your thumb and index finger and give the feathers a little rub to un-stick the vains. But feathers have a tendency to fade rather quickly from sun light so once it's dry you need to put it back in the box so you keep the true color as long as you can. As far as storage for bucktail. I put mine right back in the plastic sleeves I sell them in. There's only room for the jig and it has to set straight, therfore it doesn't get "The Bends". But you want to make sure the jig is dry first. Other wise putting a wet jig in any plastic bag is just an excuse to start the rusting process of the hook prematurely. Hutch

Location: Rhinelander | Hey Jason, The attachment is probably too large a file size. Limit on WalleyeFIRST is 200KB. Right click on the image and click on 'properties'. If the size is indeed to big, just click on 'open with' and use a photo editing program to resize the photo, then resubmit by clicking on the 'edit' tab, then 'add or remove attachments'. That failing, send me the pic in an email to [email protected] and I will post it for you.
