I was just at Tew's and he has some of the Deep juniors and hot n tots. They are called the original series and are priced at $3.99. He only has a couple colors but he does have purple prizm. Looks like the old molds to me. Just thought I would pass it along.

Am a little disappointed they decided to have the baits made in China. Otherwise, they look great and will spend some of my money on them. But still will concentrate on those with the "Made in the USA" label.

Rick,

If you want american made, watch for the Dave's Ka-Boom "Nitro Shiner" to hit the stores very very soon. You can see them in Cabela's now. They're the duplicates of the old storem dj's in the hot colors.

Okey Dokey. Have already stocked up on the Winning Streaks and can't wait to test them out. My plans are to fish the Old Tots, New Tots, Producers, and Ka-Booms all at the same time. Dito for the stickbaits.

And let the best crankbait win!

In talking with Ron Smart and Dave Storm today they are about to start the shipping of nitro shiners. Dave and Ron are at the Lorain Ohio sports show. Said things at home are running as planned. For all of you who have been waiting sorry for the inconvience. Dave wants to make sure the bait is perfect because it is not an exact replica of the old version. They have tweaked the bill size by width. Also the back tail of the lure is also wider. We did have a chance to run the prototype at the mwc champioship last fall and it ran great! Xtreme tackle should be getting some soon along with cabelas and Tews Two Tackle. Its going to be an exciting year for Daves lures, talk of some exciting unique colors along with the customs they did for xtreme. Excited to get my first chance to try them. Good luck!

Just curious if the dive curves will be the same, with the lip change.can't put any new numbers in this old brain, everytime something goes in, something has to leave to make room.

Hafe and all,

The dive chart should be slightly different, as the Deep Nitro Shiner's bill is slightly wider than the old DJ. I plan to create some new numbers and report them back to Rona and Dave, and I will also put them on the website after I get them. If I had to guess, I'd say the DNS will run about 10% deeper than the old DJ.

Nobody knows for sure being a production model has not been tested yet. If it is the same as the prototype you can expext 1 to 1 1/2 feet deeper in overall depth. I expect for Dave to have a dive chart posted rather soon. I'll mention something to Ron and Dave when they call me tommorrow. Good Luck!

I am very disapointed! I saw the new Orig one piece from Storm last night and the paint job was terrible, overspray everywhere, although the 3.79 price tag was probably appropriate! When is someone gonna get it right, Dave? Where are you? I need to see these baits, I am disapointed to hear that the lip is larger! I hope things work out for you and am looking forward to using the new Nitro, although It is begining to sound like the EBAY guys are gonna be happy there will still be a market for the real "ORIGINAL T-STICK" Why on earth did you change the bait? I thought you were going to be using orig. molds? Rip Lippers, Nitros, Storm Orig, and a few other copy cats out there. Will I have to start buying from EBAY again? I have been waiting to buy and now it seems I am even more confused! STEVE!!!!! Where is the tackle shop????
Good Luck
Tyee

Rapala has, alledgedly, the original molds. I do not know if they are using it to make their classic Storm line.

The Dave's Lures Deep Nitro Shiner will not disappoint you, Tyee, or anyone else. The workmanship is first class, and Dave runs a top notch outfit, as he will not put out a substandard product before it's ready to his satisfaction. They should be available within the next 10 days or so. The top retailer in the area to buy them from will be Tew's Too. Fleet Farm has chosen to NOT carry them, for some unknown reason. I can assure you that there will be no disappointment with this product.

Rick.

Can't vouch for the new Nitro Shiner (YET), but looking forward to opening a can of "Whoop Ass" with them, on some river kings this fall. Also can give you some positive feed-back on the Winning Streaks, at least while being used solo and in conjunction with my spoon sliders last summer on Saginaw Bay. They are the perfect meld between the 1/4 ounce Tot and 3/8 Rattle-Tot. I'd say they dive fairly close to the same curve that the old Rattler did, while throwing a slightly smaller silhouette with the rattle. Sweet.....

In my almost 20 years of dealing with the Storm family and their business personel, no company (I've seen) pays better attention to detail and the customers concerns than the Storm family. Dave (like his dad) and Grandpa (the original GLOP lure designer) has the determination, experience, drive, background and pasion to carry on this tradition. And what could be more USA than Oklahoma.

As far as changes go, the nitro shiner is what the thunderstick would look like today if the storm family still owned the rights to it.they made small
changes to make a great bait even better,as far as when and where here is the scoop I got from ron and dave by the end of the month TEWS two sporting goods, Extreme tackle and cabelas will have the nitro shiner, and coming soon to the sheboygan, appleton and wausau Gander Mountain stores. With many more tackle shops to follow. Keep in mind guys the best is yet to come!

Thanks Rainbow!
My eyes lit up when I saw that lure and the color selection.

I hate to ask this because I am an Oshkosh native but can someone explain why it is called Tew's Two? I have been asking myself that for about 10 years and never asked the right people. Don't tell Ed!

The name TEW's TWO comes from when they were originally down where the Arnie and Eds is now.TEW's was the name-T for Tom,E for Ed,W for Wayne. When they moved to the new location the sign painter wanted to know what they wanted on the new sign and they deciced TEW's TWO since it was the second location.I just asked Ed this at the shop today, didn't get who the Tom and Wayne were but this explains the TEW name.Ed was more than happy to talk about it and what I have always found is even if someone else thinks it is a stupid question the only way you will find out is to ask.I have asked many stupid question in my life and the only ones that turn out negatively are the ones I never asked. If you get into TEW's some day ask Ed,he is always happy to have people talk about this stuff.
