Member Posts: 190 Location: Annandale, MN | Boogie, For color schemes check this website out, Hutch makes some great combos for hair jigs (buck tails). I've fished primarily the brighter colors such as chart., but don't forget the purples and blues. Hope this helps. Nav http://www.riverwalleyes.com/tackle/

Member Posts: 20 | I make my own and if your fishing the Mississippi River here are some good choices: Purple/Black Blue/Black Chartruese/Orange White/Red Green The darker colors are very good when the water is clear, brighter colors shine when the water is stained. Member Posts: 50 | I'm with you on the purples guys. My second choice would be purple and if that's not working then I'd try purple. Nice looking jigs there Zamer and thanks for the kind words Jon. I can tell you this much Boggie. I sell a lot of jigs that go to Canada. I went back and did a search and here are the top 7 sellers for up there in your part of the world. Char, char and orange, pink and white, white, char and green, char and white, and brown and orange. WHAT NO PURPLE.

Member Posts: 145 | Hutch, you beat me to it. Purple/fucia with a little mylar is my favorite. I tie a little mylar on all of my jigs. I'll have to post a pic of one of mine. I tie them on a tube head with a 60 degree Laser Sharp hook. Great for casting but not for vertical. I never tip them either, but I'm a stubborn Pollack. Purple/black Purple/white purple/grey purple/blue/white purple/blue black/blue orange/chart purple over chart Do I see a pattern developing here? I'll have to go in the basement and tie one, because my jig box is out at the river. This is another place where I give credit to Hutch. He taught me a lot about hairjigging when I thought that I knew most of it. My jigs resemble streamer flies more than your typical....walleye jig that you tip with a minnow. Some times you cannot beat a bare bucktail jig. Beav and of course dark purple over light purple Attachments ---------------- Hairjig.JPG (19KB - 350 downloads)

Member Posts: 145 | What you see is what you get. Remember when you were 8? She wants to go to Madison and play hockey for The Badgers and if there isn't a professional women's hockey league when she graduates, she wants to be a teacher and a coach. When I was 8, all I thought about was dodging my parents and the nuns. My how times have changed. Good thing that she takes after her mom Beav
