Many of you have read the announcement by Jerry (the moderator on the Winnebago link to WalleyeFirst), of a seminar he and Pat Schuette were to present this evening at Bubba's Place - offering a baitshop, convience store, and gas station - located in my home town of Manitowoc (that's in Wisconsin for those of you who've never been through here). And it was a huge success. 49 people attending heard from these well-known local tournament anglers the migration patterns of the big walleyes inhabiting Green Bay, a bay of Lake Michigan. Starting with the spawning run up the Fox River, following them through the spring and summer movements, and ending with their migration back towards the inner bay and rivers. Along with these movements, Pat and Jerry described their favorite fishing techniques in catching the biggest fish in the system. And in a short review, and starting up at the dam in Depere, the first technique described was casting cranks into the shallow water for spawning fish during the early evening hours. And Pat was adamant, the sun had to shine all day to heat the water to spawning temperatures, hence the early evening being best. Then they talked of the shallow inner bay and fishing in stealth by trolling using the bow mount. At this time they spoke of either cranks or crawler hanesses working. Following into the summer, they switched totally to crawler harnesses with larger blades fishing midday, as Pat felt this was the time that big fish needed to eat. You know, warming water speeding up the metablism making them hungry since they hadn't ate since sunup (got all that:-)). Carrying on through to fall and switching back to cranks, they finished the seminar with a flare, describing the incredible bite to be had into early December. These guys did a great job and below please find a few pictures for your viewing pleasure. And by the way, thanx to Shep, we have a picture of Paul, who set up this event. If anyone needs a special order of live bait, this guy will move heaven and earth to get what you need. If your nearby, stop and check him and Bubba's place out. You'll be happy you did! Nice to see Shep and Trap there too. Pat and I are planning a few more of these seminars this year. I'll give as much advanced notice as I can to the place and time. Hope everyone enjoyed themselves, as Pat and I definitely had a good time talking about our favorite pursuit. See ya on the water!!! Jerry

Member Posts: 714 | Jerry, You look alot more comfortable in that picture than you did on TV during the telethon! Sounds like you did a great job. Hopefully your seminar resulted in a bunch of crank baits being sold for Paul. Take care bud, and any time you want to hit Mille Lacs, you've got a spot in my boat, just call.

Member Posts: 201 Location: Jackson, Wisconsin 53037 | Jerry, thanks to you and Pat for taking the time, and having the seminar. I picked up some information that I will be able to use, especially for never have fished Green Bay, except for Depere in the spring. Only thing I wish you guys would have done was give out some of your hot spots, but I can understand why you didn't. Thanks again, Eric I was the guy asking you questions about sponsors.

Member Posts: 183 Location: Menasha, Wis. | A special thanks to Jerry and Pat for presenting the seminar. It was very informative and I learned some more information for fishing Green Bay. Thanks to Bubba's for hosting the seminar, and now my brother has a new place to pick up bait heading for the Bay. Happy fishing to all. ![]()

Member Posts: 340 Location: McFarland, WI | I also want to thank Jerry and Pat. I hope their sponsors take note of the service these guys provide the general fishing public and how well they represent their products. It was a long drive but well worth the trip. I will be on the bay this weekend utilizing much of the information and trying to stay out of everyones way. Larry
