Location: Rhinelander | How was the bite where you were this weekend? Slamr (MuskieFIRST Moderator) and I spent two days chasing muskies in awful weather conditions, and put one 40" in the boat. Walleyes tonight if the weather holds, right now the sun is peeking through a bit and the wind has finally laid down some.

Member Posts: 2567 Location: Manitowoc, WI | Saturday on Green Bay was excellent with fish up to 9.5 lbs and a bunch in the 6-7 lb category. Sunday, tournament day, was the polar opposite. Heavy East wind put our bite down, making fishing the West shore of Green Bay near impossible.

Member Posts: 714 | I fished Lake Minnetonka today for about 5 hours. 23 walleyes, all small, with the largest about 14 inches. Live bait rigging with leeches on the deep weed edges adjacent to deep water drop offs. Its too bad they were all so small, but it was good to see these fish. A couple years ago the state had too start an emergency restocking of the lake or there would be next to none in there now. 3 years ago 58,000 fingerlings, year before last, 50,000, with continued stocking every other year. I think they are switching to fry instead of fingerlings next year. Next year those fish should be nice 15-16 inch eaters!! ![]()

Member Posts: 340 Location: McFarland, WI | Also fished the windy Green Bay with Jerry on Sunday. I had never fished the east shore before but after being drenched in waves for hirty minutes we retreated from the west side and headed accross the bay. We found some nice looking points on the map and began trolling. Marks we heavy in 16 ft but the biting fish were up in 8 feet for us. We had a major color preference change fom earlier fishing on the west but boat control was the major issue. The wind continually blew us off the shallow bars. Plus it helped foul lines in the motor and creat more than the usual entanglements. A far cry from precision trolling. All in all we caught three lost one but only spent about an hour in productive water. I did discover that I need much better rain bibbs and a back brace or a set of seats like Jerrys. Larry

Member Posts: 198 Location: Gladstone, Michigan 49837 | the big weekend is over, let the walleye" Hoping each and everyone of you have had a great Memorial Day Weekend and even though it was a bit damp it's all about family and enjoying life! Yes rain may have dampening the weekend but indeed greening up the U.P. and with upcoming warming temperatures lets look forward to some better and better walleye fishing! Reports and again it still stays about the same throughout the Bays Waters area with some anglers doing well and others catching a few fish and also catching numerous undersize walleye. This is good fisherman, this tells us that some great size class of fish are out there and our electronics are telling us of all the fish below us as we seek out and try and catch these fish. Best bait choices still seem to be the floaters, especially Walleye's Choice in purple's/white's along with crawler harnesses in copper and orange beads. We've been lightening up the bottom bouncers while drifting and using 1/4 and 3/8 ounce weights in the slider bouncers, while trolling using 1 and 1/2 tickling bottom it good as well while spreading these presentations off in-line boards. Also snap-jigging 1/8 and 1/4 ounce jigs tipped with "Gulp" minnows and Crawlers have been taking fish as well. Attaching a stinger hook has helped get those short hitters! Smallmouth Bass action is slow right now but assuring warming temps. should pick that bite up. We'll keep you posted on the bass fishing as this is a species we are going to target hard this upcoming season. These Bays' Waters have unbelievable numbers of bass that no one fishes for! There's no more fun than catching a fish like these for the sport and fight. Keep in touch anglers and we'll fill you in on tomorrow's Charter.
