Last Friday I was in process of taking my son and 2 of his friends out of High Cliff state park fishing. In the Harbor I saw a US Coast Guard Boat with 3 crew men seeking shelter from the rough water. (Boat was one of those zodiacs style crafts)

While debating to go out myself and having lunch with kids I talked to the petty officers and was joined bye their superiors from the Milwaukee office who now assign up here on Lake Winnebago.

I asked a question that been on my mind since reading about it few months ago. Is the Coast Guard going to now patrol and enforce Federal Regulations on Winnebago? The answer I got was yes. My next question was the topic of many replays on this site months ago. Will you enforce Captain Licenses on Lake Winnebago? Answer YES! I was also told it was part of one of the Home Land Security measures that was past last year that now makes this body of water a must to be patrolled by regular coast guard not auxiliary units.

Mike,

It was nice meeting you at that same launch Saturday morning.

Yes I also saw the Coast Guard boat on Saturday, in the area outside the breakwater when we pulled in at noon. I didn't take the time to talk to them though.

Part of the Homeland Security measures .... 60 Trillion foreign ships in and out of all of our harbors on both coasts and they allocate manpowr and money to check fishing guides... Somebody needs their !@#$%^&* head examined...

One of the dumbest things I've ever heard. Second of course to reopening the lock system and letting gobies and every other exotic into the system. All for $$$. They don't give a crap about walleyes thats for sure.

You are absolutly right. It's a bunch of hooey and was started by a couple of people who were more interested in thier own self promotion then anything. Again, I want to see the Coast Guard playing Boy Scout on the Wolf River between Leeman and Shiocton in thier Zodiac. Hundreds of thousands of containers coming in to the US go un-inspected and they are spending money worrying about a Captains License on the Wolf River all the way to Leeman. Horse manuer!!!!!!!!!
