Location: Rhinelander | No, we didn't cover the Games live. Several reasons, not the least of which was no response from ESPN when requesting Press Passes.

Member Posts: 1406 | Steve, I thought ESPN responded with all the necessary info! It would have been a nice event to cover with all the hype surrounding Tournament fishing and a first ever of Bass and Eye guys together in the same boat. Would have been interesting to say the least, It seems the other sites attended, weather or not they had press pases is unbeknownst to me. Was WF too late to the punch? Good Luck Tyee

Tyee, what have you got against these guys? Seems like you have been on at least a month long campaign trying to criticize and make them look bad, when they are in fact providing the bet tournament coverage out there. BTW, no "other sites" covered the ESPN GOG. I looked for it.

Location: Rhinelander | Nope, not too late to the punch; my guess is that the Games were covered on the ESPN website, and they simply didn't respond to our request; easy way to handle us. We don't 'cover' an event from the stands, we get right in there and make it so. No press pass, and no permissions to get back in there where the pictures and interviews are worth the effort, no coverage by WF. JK gave us the contact, we asked, no response to our requests.

Steve, I must have been misinformed then. I was under the impression all the info was forwarded etc. And no I haven't been on a month long quest, rather trying to figure out what is being done these days and what can be done to generate more intrest here, there has been less traffic in my mind. WF has and continues to be a favorite for me and I assume many others. For a message board, it seems that the majority of interest has been the controversial topics and some good ones at that, but for a media site I would think you would want to cover an event like this in some form or fashion as it seemed to me to be pretty big news. Location: Rhinelander | First, the Games were a Bass/Walleye medal competition, not a tournament, and off the track as to what we cover. Second, no, we did NOT get clearance or anything 'forwarded' to allow onsite coverage of the Games. What we did get was a name of a contact from Mr. Kalkofen, contacted that person asking for a Press Pass, and the result has been covered. WalleyeFIRST isn't message board driven anyway; we provide up to date daily coverage of industry news, tournaments, and items of interest in the world of the Walleye. A more active board will come with time, just as it did with MuskieFIRST.

Member Posts: 389 | Tyee, All the boards are slow at this time of year. People are just too busy living their lives, and enjoying the great weather we are having right now. ![]() Don't worry, it will pick up again come fall, when everyone gets on and starts talking about hunting, and fall fishing patterns, and the anticipation of ice fishing. Your just having a bad hair day.:-) My idea is ESPN being a media outlet, and having a website of their own, could view all other websites as competition. Makes sense to not want to share their investment in the games.

Member Posts: 1406 | Ya Rick I think you hit it on the head, not to mention that the boat is out of commission and I couldn't get to the water on this perfect weekend like so many others. To top off the aggony the boys caught limits of 17"-20" fish in green slime all weekend without me! Good Luck to everyone heading to Ohio! Tyee
