My trip to Lake Oahe

I am now back at home after a long and peaceful trip that took me to Pierre, South Dakota and to on of my favorite new bodies of water. I went their wit a open mind on what I find experience in addition was looking forward in getting some fishing time in with friends and making new ones along the way.

First on trip it went somewhat uneventful except for a tire issue on my boat trailer tire type is Goodyear Marathons (has anyone else had a side wall blow out.)

Fishing it self was great we brought home a limit each night of 17 and 18 fish. The slot here is 4 under 20 and 1 over 20 per person each day.

On tournament day I had a hard choice to make catch fish in bigger class or get limit of smalls ones then go for bigger fish. I went for my larger fish fist because I also had caught slots in same spot before. We caught fish but I made the wrong choice and wound up throwing back little ones when I should kept them and made me learn a valuable lesson. FISH IN BOAT weight more than ones that are still swimming in lake.

For tournament Day I had a great lady as my co angler Julie Towle we had a lot of fun and I wish her and Bernie her future husband the best of years.

I went my spots and pulled a bottom bouncer with a red hook tipped with a half crawler I also dragged a ¼ ounce jig with half crawler on it also.

10. 5 hours of driving and allot of deer seen and reminder of days in Military when I drove cross country and through mountains and hill of beautfull countryside & western landscape of America .

PS I wish to thank Carl’s bait shop and Best Western in Pierre for all great service during my trip. In addition I amazed in people I meet for kindness and human nature they displayed.

i will add more pictures to this file during the course of the day.
