Member Posts: 168 | I have attached a picture of my Lowrance X-100C and I am wondering what the garbage in the middle of the picture is? I attaced one also of my X-67C and there is no clutter in the middle of that one. It does not seem to have a sharp of an image as I was expecting. Could there be something wrong with this? Let me know your thoughts. Thanks, Chris Attachments ---------------- ![]() ![]()

Location: Rhinelander | Was there an algae bloom where you got that signal? What was the bottom composition? The unit definitely is returning an echo at the 5' to 6' line. Your other unit is set at 20', so the clutter or echo at 5 to 6 is incorporated in the surface clutter on the X-67; looks to me.

Member Posts: 168 | There was an algae bloom, however, in parts of the lake that there was not an algae bloom, the same thing occured. When the unit is at 20', the same deal occurs. For what ever reason, this graph will not show decent bottom at 20 mph, where the X-67C did. Any other suggestions? Edited by chris5150 7/25/2004 8:23 PM

Lower the sensitivity until it is diminished.

Location: Rhinelander | If the unit isn't giving you a good picture over 20 MPH 9 out of 10 times that is the transducer placement. Is the transducer in the same place the X67 was? Make sure it's clear of rivet lines, or anything else that would disturb the flow of water over the face as the boat moves forward. Make sure the back of the transducer is tipped down a few degrees, too. Did the clutter remain at 5 to 6', or was it consistently in the middle of the screen no matter what depth scale the unit was displaying?

Member Posts: 168 | I will try turning it down a bit (the power). It is at about 68% on that picture. Every other Lowrance unit I have had, X67c, X-85 would all run at about 70%-78% depending on conditions. I will also turn the transducer down a few degrees and will report back with what I see. I will post a picture on Wed. Thanks again. Chris

![]() Member Posts: 32 Location: shores of Indian lake, Ohio | -just a quick thought ... but it almost looks like a return that I get when I run over a mudline current flow with clear water blown/rolled over top on the surface. I messed with my x15 ducer placement/angles alot on my lund till I was satisfied with a wot display on calm water, but when it gets bumpy -lol ![]() Edited by Erie 7/26/2004 12:00 PM

Location: Rhinelander | I agree, it may be the sensitivity is set too high; is the unit running on Auto?

Member Posts: 168 | Well, I was out again last night and after some tinkering with the transducer, and turning the sensitivity down, same result. The 2nd echo finally went away when the graph started to lose bottom, around 20%. What do you guys feel I should replace 1st, the unit or the transducer? Lowrance told me to try the unit on another trasducer, or put a different unit on my transducer, but I don't know anyone who has this unit or one of the units that use this transducer. Thanks for your help.....Chris

Member Posts: 363 Location: Kaukauna WI | I was thinking of this problem and thought of this ideal. You have done a tons of ajusting correct? so before you start changing units or transducers put it back to manufatures original settings and see what the unit does. Go to system set up and you find it there as a choice.

Member Posts: 3899 | Swap the X100 and the 67C. The connectors should be the same. I'm not so sure that is a second echo. When I get a second echo on my X-15, it is usually below the bottom.

Member Posts: 168 | Just got off the phone w/ Lowrance. After they looked at the pic's, they are next day airing a brand new unit and transducer. They were not sure which one it was causing the problem so they are sending both. Thanks for everyones input. Chris

Member Posts: 168 | Got the new one in and it works great. Great picture and great sensitivity. It ended up being the unit and not the transducer. Was out on Sunday and was able to pick up fish at 22 mph on the gps. Thanks to all who replied. Chris
