I've had enough inquires during the summer months about such a thing and seriously might find it a refreshing change from time to time to do so. So with that in mind, I found myself in Franks (our local lure/bait emporium) today looking to stock up on the basic arsenal of lures for summer River Smallmouths. It was just my luck that Franks was having quit a sale going on. Bought several spinnerbaits and casting lures for 2 for $5.00. Came away only spending $149.90 for just about a little of everything I really wanted to buy. My eyes then fell upon something totally new. And it's aesthetic fish catching/eye appealing look was about all Ol' Capt. Dan could stand. So like I usually do, I bought 2 of the available 3 colors. This new lure is made by the Old Storm brand name people and is called a WildEye Soft Shad. They're 2 3/4inches long and weigh in at 3/8 ounce. And you have to feel this thing to believe it. The whole thing is actually covered with the same rubber sleeve/skin that makes the dorsal fin and tail look and feel very real. It is indeed weird to the touch. These two are going into my new smallie box, but I think they have possibilities to entice some walleyes as well. Edited by walleye express 8/22/2004 1:46 PM Attachments ---------------- ![]()

I snagged one of those on Devils Lake this past summer (the chartruese one). I didn't know what it was called, or who made it. Thanks for the info. Juls

The wife already told me if they don't work on the walleyes or bass, I can remove the hooks and put them in her 80 gallon aquarium, because she likes the looks of them as well. Now I know for sure that the lures did a better job of catching me than they will catching fish. ![]() Edited by walleye express 8/22/2004 8:09 PM

These have been out all summer here and I'm not jumpin up and down about them, as I did have some success at 2mph but other lures also caught the same fish. Definately wasn't a unique option. It looks like a $4.00 minnow to me. And a $4.00 minnow goes under a 4" bobber in my boat. Some lures are just good for catchin Fishermen! Good Luck Tyee

Member Posts: 744 | I had some trouble getting mine to run true, and ended up throwing it back in the box. Only one treble too.....but it caught me.

Member Posts: 300 Location: Lincoln Park, Mi | No luck with any of the wild eye's for me. Not one single fish. I've owned the type with no bill for 3 seasons now in several patterns. Tried everything from jigging, to casting, to trolling them and nadda one fish to show. They do look cool though!
