The Maxxum is a very good motor, but do you really need that much power for a Bass boat?

If I were you, I'd take a long look at the Minnkota 74lb. thrust Auto Pilot before making a decision. The reason I say that is that the 74 comes with that smaller micro touch footpedal with an 18 ft. cord, so you can operate it from anywhere in the boat, and it takes up much less room on the deck, and the cord is much easier to move around and position than the big foot pedal and cable system that comes with the Maxxum. Plus, with the auto pilot, you can walk away from the control to say retie a line, or grab something from the back of the boat, and the motor will keep running and holding your course without you having to keep your foot on the pedal.

Either one you go with, you are going with a good motor, just give it some thought.

JLDII thanks for the info but I put down bass boat but my boat is a fish-n-ski boat(it is almost the same size as a walleye boat) Another reason i want the 101 is because I pull bouncers most of the time and I wanted the extra power to do that in a 4-5' chop. I don't know how much my boat weights but it is around 2 thousand pounds(give or take a little)But I really aperciate the info.

I have last years production of the maxxumm 101, which did not offer the universal trans. And I am glad for that. I hate for one piece of gear to keep 2 pieces of electronics off the boat for repair. I do like the 101. Comes in handy in fast rivers after a full day. WM
