Member Posts: 538 | I took this course with 9 other folks from the greater Wisconsin area last month. Capt Bob Townsend was the teacher of that course and I must say the course is intense but very worthwhile. When the course is over, your charting and general maritime knowledge is much improved. These folks are certified and teach you lots of good information. They will teach you what you need for the test, but also teach other important seamanship and safety issues. We had one fella in the class that took 80 some hours of class in Manitowoc area earlier this year, only to find the the class was not certified. Be careful who you sign up with. Capt Larry Walker's crew is certified and is a good choice IMHO. The course hours are long and you commit 8 days and some evening to the coursework, but it was never boring or slow going. Once you get thru the 4th day, it seems easier sledding. Take care, Jim O | ||
