I'm talking about the recent sample fishing products that have been showing up via (UPS) the last couple of weeks at my doorstep. I've gotten my share of these things from manufacturers who probably, simply pick my name out of the (Michigan Charter Boats) charter directories hat, for these sample packs. And admittedly, I have not received many that aid me much in my strict pursuit of walleyes on Saginaw Bay. But it seems the last few sample packs, have given me some new ideas that might work when incorporated with the product. This most recent product is called a "Fish Flash." It's a trolling attractor made by Big Al's Tackle Company in Lakebay, Washington on the West Coast. http://www.fishflash.com They're made in several different sizes and colors, and use the same premise as a dodger or flasher when fishing for Salmon or Lake Trout. And I'm thinking would be a real winner for guys using them for our open water, Great Lakes salmon/trout species. But the twist in their design is, it lets them work without any line drag at all, that these others mentioned would not do. Yup, I said any, or that's at least what the flyer states. Like the other products I've recently talked about, like the recent Wiggle Discs, I have not yet used the product, I don't know, have met, work for, or am a pro staffer for these products. Of course if they work for me in any fashion, you can count on me spreading the word to you guys for the same price I got the product for, that is, for free. Heres a picture of my first thoughts on the Fish Flash's walleye application. I'm thinking a harness using simply beads, or one with your chosen size spinner blade would also work. Now, all I need is for someone to send me a new free tackle box to hold all my new free stuff. He gave me the number of a guy who uses his Fish Flash attractors exclusively for walleyes over on Green Bay and other well know Wisconsin lakes. In fact this guy fishes the RCL and has done really well while using them in different configurations. His name is Chris Stiering and he gave me permission to use him name and (as he said) let the cat out of the bag on the Fish Flash. He uses the mini Fish Flash only, connects it directly to a keel sinker and runs a 6 foot crawler harness leader behind it, while using #5 deep cup colorado blades. He also uses crankbaits on shorter leads behind the Fish Flash with success. He confirmed that there is virtually no drag generated on your line when using the Fish Flash with harnesses, and any known diving formula you've worked out with bouncers, keels or any other weight, stays the same when using the Fish Flash attractors. He did say however that it does change slightly when using cranks behind the FF. Man, am I going to be busy experimenting next summer. Edited by walleye express 11/9/2004 7:56 AM

![]() Member Posts: 2680 Location: Essexville, MI./Saginaw Bay. | Don't mean to personally keep bringing this topic to the Top, but wanted to clear up some confusion that was brought to my attention on another board. It had to do with the credentials and name of the person Big Al gave me to contact about the Fish Flash walleye applications. Heres simply the reply I gave. Revised skinny. Chris Spiering, with a "P" not a "T", fishes the RCL League and the N.E.W. Walleye Tour Trail, whatever that is. And he's still very adament about the Fish Flashes workability. Being totally honest, I can't be sure what this thing does or what little tweeks it may need to work for me on Saginaw Bay, until I see it work myself. This Chris guy has been using the FF for over a year now in front of both harnesses and cranks, and gives it rave reviews over the phone. I don't have to tell you that some lures, components and riggings that are hot in one certain area, are flops in others. Nobody knows why, they just are. Innitially I like what I see here. And Chris's rigging ideas (on paper) make all the walleye sense in the world to me. Now that I have some, I will give these a fair shake next year and report back if they work. Thats about as far out on that limb as I'll crawl. Even the products that I do Pro Staff for, only get the truth reported about them. And they all know/knew that going into the deal. Of course if they do work, a man might want to simply have a couple to avoid the time that both the learning curve and the mailing would involve.
