Guys,

Ready to make the big purchase and have a few more questions for you knowledgeable truck guys out there. Narrowed it down to two trucks and right now it's for me ..... all about price ... but...... figured I ask you guys one more series of ?????

At this time.... not inteded to start a Ford vs GMC war... but is there a great difference in the relability of either of these trucks.... w/ the diesel engines(trans / motor / noise etc...)? Also, long bed vs short, leather vs cloth interior? Any feed back would be great.

Wife says to order it as our Xmas gift to us...... aint she great!

Thanks!

personally, i like my "05" dodge ram 3/4 ton 4x4 4dr. diesel short box. very quiet, plenty of (hp325) and 600lbs of torque. i have a 8.5 ft truck camper, and haul my skeeter (21ft). hehind. so far it has been nothing but awesome truck. alot quiter than my "01" was by far. mpg around town is around 12-14, and on the highway is 18-20.

That Dodge is a sissy truck.

J/K I have seen his new truck and it's awesome. Just got 2 of my 3 2003 Ford 1/2 tons out of the shop, one for a clutch another for a plethera of prob's, both were well over $1,000.00 bills. These trucks only have 50-60,0000 miles on them and have been maintained to the hilt. Needless to say, I am replacing all 3 this year and they AIN"T gonna be Fords.

210 k on my 99 Super Duty V10 and 36K on my 04 6 liter PSD CC. I know the guy that bought the 99 and it is still going strong. I love the new truck and nothing pulls like this motor.

Just turned my 94 Chevy suburban over to 200,000. It owes me nothing! Mechanic says that I just broke 'er in

I never had a $1,000 repair bill on it! Nothing more than expected repair rand eplacement. I'd guess that the brakes always need repair/fixin sooner than what would be the norm but I think it's my style of driving and towing

I drive a Excursion which is on a 250 frame and love it before you go the route of pick up think about this for when traveling it second to none and hauls every. I went this way and others will agree if I want not to brake a rod down or have a longer item inside this truck is great I can put a 20 4X8 sheet of Pile wood inside and still have room to put 20 2X4 inside and they are dry when I get home.

I had a 180 K on my 2000 when I sold it 2 months ago and now have 15,000 on my new 2004 and love it. They 2000 only maintenance was tires

I agree with fishhunter70. I love my '03 Dodge Quad Cab w/Cummins. 19-20 MPG empty combo highway/city driving with a moderate foot. 16 MPG pulling 20' glass boat. I'd recommend that you buy a Cummins, unless you like to frequent the dealership service department Cummins has been making the best diesels for longer than Ford and Chevy have been put together. Also, go with the leather/heated seats.

I just stopped at the Ford dealer and was really impressed with the new 05 that I drove. They have really updated the interiors and I can't tell if the motor is as loud as it was in the 04.... it's definately just a bit noiser than the GM. We are going to do another test drive of both with the wife this weekend.

I have a 97' Dodge now and to tell you the truth.... I wouldn't buy another Dodge! The trans was junk from day one and I had it in the shop at least 6 times for various things on the trans during warranty.... then at 70K just after the warranty expired the trans died and needed to be replaced. After talking to Dodge they wouldn't even help on the replacement..... they can keep every one of their trucks from here on out! Minor other stuff with the truck under warranty but it was never as trouble free as the Ford I had prior.
