I wanted to brag a little with a couple photos of what will
soon be one of the crown jewels of my trophy room!
A good friend of mine invited me along to go on a
mountain lion hunt on Wednesday and we met good luck.
After my buddie about walked me into the ground up
and down and around the mountain, we located the dogs with the
mountain lion treed. The dogs were awesome having tracked this big
tom probably over 10 miles in close to a foot of snow. They started a
little after 7AM and we got him a little before 5 PM. After 15-20
minutes of waiting about 8-12 yards from the tree with him having his
vital area covered with the tree trunk (as you can see in the tree
picture) he shifted his leg forward enough to allow me a small window
of opportunity. Between his leg and the tree on the sides and
branches on the top and bottom, I had a hole about 4-5 inches X 4-5
inches at which to aim. As Ted Nugent would say, the arrow flew true!
I was able to double lung this 165 lb Mountain Lion with an arrow!!
As you can imagine, he erupted. First up, taking out limbs about 5
feet above him and then crashed 15-20 feet to the ground breaking
every limb below him. Then still had the power to run over 100 yards
before piling up. Long day and I had aches and pains in places that
I didn't know I had places, but I couldn't be more excited about the
big cat!

Congradulations on a truly great animal. With the size of them it makes you think twice about walking out of the deer blind after dark. What state where you hunting in?

Keith - I guess I missed that... I was in south central montana. I live in Laurel, MT and could be to the spot in about 40-50 minutes.

Dale - for sure it makes you think. When we were waiting and trying to get it to move enough for a shot, my buddy was tossing sticks at him and he would turn and snarl at us. No doubt he could tear you up in seconds... Looking at my broadhead, I can tell you I was praying it did the trick...

Nice cat, sir. Believe it or not, we actually have a few here in Wisconsin. Certainly not many, but there are too many accurate sightings to discount at least a few living here.
