Location: Waukesha Wisconsin | Because of all the traveling that I do while tournament fishing and guiding, I keep a large Rubbermaid container in my truck full of emergency fishing supplies. It contains emergency items that I feel I can not do without. I thought that it would be interesting to start a dialogue discussing what everyone carries with them in case of emergencies. For discussion purposes lets keep it to boat, trailer, electronics and fishing equipment emergency repair items. I know that many of us also keep a similar collection of items in case the tow vehicle has problems. That could be a future discussion. Obviously some items can be used for both. An example could be the 2 ton hydraulic jack that I carry. It’s used for both trailer and truck.
If this works and we get a great list of items, I’ll compile your suggestions and will post it here on WF or incorporate it into an article exclusively for WFers. I’m sure (right Zach and Steve) Walleye First would be willing to put it on the main page.

I keep a selection of crimp connectors and electrical gel... a small 12 volt compressor, two cans of "fix-a-flat" (the tire shops hate me)... two small bicycle rear flashers (the little $3 strobes) for the trailer if the lights fail I can attach them with velcro that I keep also... extra adjustable bunge cords... a spare livewell and bilge pump... (both are "cartridges"), extra fuel filter, some hose clamps, and two splice inserts for fuel line... lots of rope... miscellaneius small cans of lubes... spare keys for "everything"... |

Location: upper michigan | i always carry a 18 volt cordless drill with a selection of difrent tips philips torques regular and a box of drill bits. Also a small asortment of nuts, bolt, screws. The reason for the cordless drill is i have had to do repairs under the floor where i had to take up a large portion of the floor. or windshield mounts and to just generally tighten any loose screws after a rough ride. |

| Dennis-Great idea to post this. I think I carry just about all the stuff mentioned, too. Gotta' like the 2nd suggestion (beer)! I'll add to the list a tire plug kit and a GFCI 3-way recepticle. Oh yeah-and a flashlight. And a grease gun.
I've lucked out so far without one, but this year an extra hub assembly for th trailer will be included.

Battery jump/boster/power supply pack(1 works for both boat and truck)
Tire plug kit ($5)
12v impact wrench kit.(really speeds up the work)
Extra bearing set for the trailer.
Med. size tarp, plastic or other.
Hanes or Chliton manual for the Truck.
Work gloves
Bottle of water-less hand cleanser.
Roll of paper towels.
A come along hand winch, or small electric winch.(I have both)
One pulling point (has come in handy ice fishing when the tires melted in)
12 volt work lights.
12 volt vacume cleaner.
And good soft TP.
At least that Is what I carry in addition to this list.

Location: Plover, WI | I'll add a couple that I learned about the hard way.
Make sure that whatever you have for removing lug nuts in your truck actually can fit into the area of the lug nuts on your trailer.
Never actually realized that the wheels on my cretliner's trailer has recessed lug nuts and the only way to remove them was with a deep well socket of the appropiate size, and a 4" extension was handy to let the wrench clear the fender. None of the 3 different lug bars we had would fit into the lug cavities. Never realized it that is until I got a flat while launching the boat for a prefishing day.
Another little idea that can go along with having an extra fuel bulb in the truck would be to make sure and have some hose connected to that extra bulb. Makes a handy syphon. And can also be used to suck some gas out of your boat into the truck for that time that you're in the northwoods at 3am and all of the gas stations decided to be closed. |

Location: Lincoln Park, Mi | High pressure fuel/trans line w/hose clamps and a spare belt(s). Usually throw the old belt in the trunk after a normal maintenance replacement. Came in handy more than once over the years. |

What good is that when I am between two distant lights, just past the deer in the road at 2 am,
middle of you can't see it from there, with no cell phone signal?
What about a small gas can?

I also carry a light fiber mesh tow strap.
I think I have used my gear to help out others at least 100x's the rate I have needed it.

Location: Waukesha Wisconsin | I hear ya' Rich. I have also used my gear more while helping other people than using it for myself. I hope the trend continures. But I know I'm pushing my luck this year, My truck just turned over 200,000 miles and with 2 girls in college (daddy pays the bills) I'm hoping to go at least one more season with it. So if you see a black suburban on the side of the road this season with a black Lund attached to it PLEASE pull over and share your gear. I also carry a light fiber mesh tow strap, their good for getting people out of a ditch but I'm pretty sure it's illegal to tow anyone any more.
I was also going to write that it's obvious that some of this stuff on the list is useless unless you know how to it works. But after thinking about it, I can remember many times when someone was having problems and they did not have the right gear but if they did there were others around that knew how to use it. Just something to think about.
Any then people wonder why our trucks are always full. Or the comment I love the best........... Hey, why do you carry all that stuff.....you never use it anyways? |

Location: McFarland, WI | Great list. I just added extra relays for the power tilt/trim on both kicker and big motor. I had both go out on me this year. I alos carry assorted blocks to block wheels or act as jack stand and a small butane torch for soldering and melting frozen locks.
